This invention relates to pinless folded diapers for babies.

It is an object of the present invention to provide pinless permanent folded diapers which are ordinary, every day diapers now being used and folded as is accepted by present day doctors, nurses and mothers, and easy to apply to the baby, and wherein there is provided snap fasteners, hooks, buttons, ties, at opposite sides of the flap and the fasteners for'the front or back flap being accessible only fu pon the rolling under of the outer edges of the flap so as to take up the excess material when applying the diaper to the smaller size infant and at the same time making provision so that as the infant grows, the diapers will still be available by letting out more of the turned in sides of the flap.

Another object of the invention is to provide baby diapers which are pinless and are permanently folded.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a baby diaper which is of simple construction, safe and easy to attach to the infant, inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation.

This application refers to the same general subject matter as the U. S. patent to Hazen, Patent No. 2,425,617, entitled Diaper, and patented August 12, 1947.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a pinless permanent folded diaper according to one form of the invention, especially suitable for the normal size baby.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the diaper shown in Fig. 1 with the flaps separated from one another, for illustrative purposes.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a pinless permanent folded diaper having but one strip of tape with the fastening elements therein, this type of diaper especially suited for the very small baby such as the incubator baby or normal newly born baby.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the diaper shown in Fig. 3 with the flaps extended from one another, for illustrative purposes.

Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on lines 5-5 of Fig. 4, showing six sheets of thickness of the pinless permanent folded diaper.

Referring now to Figs. 1 and 2, I represents a permanently folded diaper material of which the ends form rear and forward flaps II and I2.

These fastener elements are disposed respectively at opposite sides of the flap and are adapted to receive fastener elements of a complementary nature disposed on the front faces of the front flap I2. These fastener elements are indicated at 1'6 and are disposed within continuous tape strips ex tending from one side of the flap l2 to the other side. There are a plurality of these fasteners H5 at the opposite sides of the flap whereby an adjustment can be effected and wherein more or less of side portions ll of flap l2 can be rolled inwardly for connection of the respective fasteners It with the fasteners I5 on the rear flap II. when the flaps are brought together and the fastening elements secured, leg openings [8 are provided through which the legs of the infant extend.

It will be noted that the side portions H are rolled under in order to make available the fastening elements I6 on the front face of the front flap. By securing these fastening elements with tape, a strong and durable connection is made of the fasteners with the diaper material so that they may not be readily displaced from the same.

It will be further noted that the pinless permanent folded diaper, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, is provided with four separate thicknesses of material indicated as A, B, C and D in the rear flap II, and in the front flap l2 there are two separate thicknesses of material indicated as E and F. In most cases it has been found that it is desirable to retain the four thicknesses of material as that of the rear portion of the diaper, which is usually so desired. However, in some cases, it may be found that it is desirable to have the four thicknesses of material as that of the front, and therefore the mother or nurse simply reverses the application of the diaper for the most desirable use.

In Figs. 3 and 4, there is shown a modified form of the invention of the pinless permanent folded diaper, intended for use on the small sized baby such as the normal newly born baby and incubator baby, wherein material has been formed into a diaper to provide a rear flap 2| and a front flap 22. When the flaps are brought together, as shown in Fig. 3, leg openings 23 are provided. Instead of having two tapes as shown in the previously described form of the invention, there is provided only one tape for both th rear flap and for the front flap. The tape for the rear flap is indicated at 25 and has male fasteners 26. The

female fastener elements 28. Th application of the diaper is the same, and side portions of the front flap 22 are rolled under as indicated at 29 in order to effect the securement of the fastener elements 28 with the fastener elements 26.

It will be further noted that the pinless permanent folded diaper, as shown in the modification of my invention of said Figs. 3, 4 and 5, is provided with six separate thicknesses of material, as indicated by G, H, I, J, K and L in the rear 'fi-ap 2|, and in the front flap 22 th re are three separate thicknesses of material indicated as M, N, and O. In most cases, it has been found that it is desirable to retain the siX thicknesses of material as that of the rear portion of the diaper, which is usually desired. However, in some cases, it may be found that it is also desirable to have the six thicknesses of material as that of the front, and in such a case, the mother or nurs simply reverses the application of the pinless permanent folded diaper for the most desirable use.

It will be apparent that these diapers can be easily and readily applied and that the adjustment of the same for the different size of infant can be easily and readil effected by simply rolling under the side portions of the front flaps of the diapers.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall b understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.

Having thus set forth and disclosed th nature of my invention, what is claimed is:

A pinless permanently folded baby diaper comprising a sheet folded downwardly horizontally from the top approximately one-third, then folded vertically approximately in half and finally folded horizontally approximately in half, the fold of the last folding being disposed at the bottom in order to form a rear and a front flap, at least one first tape disposed horizontally on the front face of the rear flap adjacent its top end, at least one second tape disposed horizontally on the front face of the front flap adjacent its top end, the upper corner portions of said front flap being rolled inwardly in folded operative position of the diaper, and fastening elements connecting said first tape with said second tape, thereby maintaining th front flap opposite said rear flap in operative position of the diaper.
