SHOWER HEAD ATTACHMENT Filed Aug. 5, 1946 INVENTOR. Err/v37 fiazs.

2 Claims. 1
This invention relates to shower heads, and especially to a receptacle which is detachably secured to the shower head and adapted to contain a cake of scented soap, bath pellets, or the like, which slowly dissolve and scent and/or tint the shower water.
The object of the present invention is generally to improve and simplify the construction and operation of devices of the character described; to provide a receptacle to receive pellets, scented soap or the like which may be quickly and readily attached to the exterior surface of any standard form of shower head; to provide a receptacle and attaching means whereby the receptacle may be so positioned with relation to the shower head that only a small portion of the shower water will pass therethrough to cause dissolution of the soap or pellets in the receptacle; and further, to provide a receptacle of the character described which will insure a scented and/or tinted shower without material interference or breaking up of the shower discharge.
The invention is shown by way of illustration in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a receptacle and attaching means applied thereto; and
Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the receptacle attached to a bathroom shower head.
Referring to the drawings in detail, and particularly Fig. 2, A indicates a standard form of bathroom shower head, and B the perforated face of the shower head through which the water discharges in the form of a spray. The receptacle and means whereby it is detachably secured to a shower head is best shown in Fig. 1. The receptacle may be made from a plastic or any other suitable material and may be of cylindrical or any other suitable shape.
The upper rim of the receptacle is provided with a pair of hooks or pins 2 to which is secured an elastic spring 3 or a rubber band or the like. The rim is also provided with a hook-shaped member 4 while the bottom of the receptacle and possibly the side wall is perforated to permit the passage of water therethrough.
In actual operation a cake of soap, bath pellets or the like are placed in the receptacle. The soap and the pellets may be scented and they may contain coloring matter to tint the shower water so that a scented and/or tinted shower will result. After placing soap or pellets, or both, in
the receptacle, it is positioned with the hook 4 in engagement with the rim of the shower head as shown in Fig. 2 and then by slipping the elastic band or spring 3 over the opposite side of the rim of the shower head, the receptacle will be securely held in place and in position where it will not deflect or break up the shower as a whole, yet insure a sufficient flow of water through the receptacle to cause dissolution of the soap or pellets and at the same time insure scenting and/or tinting of the shower water.
The dissolution of the soap or pellets may be at such a rate that several showers may be taken without refilling the receptacle, but when refilling is necessary, it is obvious that removal of the receptacle from the shower head and refilling and replacement thereof is quickly and readily accomplished, and while this and other features of the invention have been more or less specifically described and illustrated, it should be understood that changes may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims and that the materials and finish of the several parts employed may be such as the experience or Judgment of the manufacturer may dictate or varying conditions or uses may demand.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. For use with a shower head having a perforated shower producing plate, the combination of a perforated receptacle open at its top and adapted to contain a water soluble scented material, said perforated container at its top being adapted to abut and overlie a portion of the perforated shower plate when used therewith so that a portion only of the shower water will pass from the perforated plate through the perforated receptacle to cause solution of the soluble scented material, and means for detachably securing the perforated receptacle to the shower head in any selected abutting position around the shower head plate. 2. For use with a shower head having a perforated shower plate and an annular rim around the same, the combination of an open top receptacle having an upper edge terminating in a plane and adapted to contain a water soluble scented material, said receptacle having a hook secured thereto and projecting beyond and forming a dihedral angle with said edge and adapted 3 to engage the annular rim of the shower head, said receptacle having a perforated bottom, and an elastic band engaging the shower head for pulling the hook and the top edge of the receptacle into abutment with a selected portion of 5 the shower head when used therewith.
