What I claim as my invention is:

1. A suit case handle, comprising: a grip portion including an elongated fiat metallic core, a pair of opposite plastic cover members disposed fiat- Wise over the opposite sides of the core, shell-like caps embracing the opposite ends of the plastic covers and the core therebetween, and rivets passing through said caps, the covers and the core therebetween for holding the covers in place on the opposite sides of the core and the caps in place enclosing the ends of the covers; legs joined to the core adjacent to the ends of said grip portion and extending angularly through openings in said caps to one side of the grip portion substantially in the plane of said core; and means on the extremities of said legs remote from the grip portion of the handle providing for hingedly connecting the handle to a suit case or similar piece of luggage.

2. A suit case handle, comprising: a substantially U-shaped member stamped from a single piece of sheet material with the portion of said member joining the legs of the U defining a core for the grip portion of the handle; a cover for each side of said core; shell-like caps telescoped over the opposite ends of said covers and the core therebetween; rivets passing through said caps, the cover and the core for securely attaching the covers in place against the opposite sides of the core and for holding the shell-like caps in place telescoped over the ends of the covers, said shelllike caps having slots through which the legs of the stamping project; and means on the extremities of the legs remote from the grip portion of the handle providing for hingedly attaching the handle to a suit case or the like.

3. A handle for a traveling bag, comprising: a flat U shaped metallic stamping, the portion of the stamping between the legs thereof providing a core for the grip of the handle; a pair of plastic covers for the opposite sides of said core cooperating therewith to define the contour of the grip of the handle; ledges on said covers along the side edges of the covers between the legs of like caps telescoped over the ends of the covers and the adjacent portions of the core to enclose the same, said caps having slots in their undersides to receive the legs of the stamping; and means for securing said caps and covers to the core. a l

5. A handle for hand luggage, comprising: a fiat U-shaped sheet metal stamping, the portion between the legs thereof providing a core for the grip of the handle; a pair of plastic covers for the opposite sides of said core cooperating therewith to define the contour of the grip of the handle; rivets passing through the covers and the core to hold the covers to the core; interengaging portions 011 the stamping and the covers cooperating to hold the covers against upward displacement with respect to the stamping, said portions extending longitudinally of the grip and having abutting shoulders at their ends cooperating to hold the covers against endwise displacement with respect to the stamping to thereby relieve the rivets of stress incident to use of the handle; and means on the extremities of said legs remote from the grip portion of the handle providing for hingedly attaching the handle, to a piece of hand luggage.
