outer casing is provided with relatively compli-. cated means for preheating air and for introduc ing said air into the rotatable cylinder, Suction hoods and conduits are also provided to remove the moisture laden air from the perforations in the periphery of the cylinder as the latter rotates. This'type of construction utilizes a substantial amount of material and is expensive to manufacture and assemble. Furthermore, the heated air tends to travel to the periphery of the cylinder before it has extracted a maximum amount of moisture from the garments. As a result the drying operation is rendered relatively slow and inefiicient.
It is a general object of the present invention to provide a tumbler wherein a novel and simple arrangement is utilized for causing efiective circulation'of heated air through the cylinder while the latter rotates, the heated air being so directed as to cause it to emciently act upon the garments within the cylinder to extract the maximum amount of moisture therefrom.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cylindrical tumbler having a solid, unperiorated peripheral wall, having a garment receiving opening at one end of the cylinder, heating means at the same end, and an air exhausting means at the opposite end from the heating means, there being novel means for conducting heated air into the .drum and for causing said air to circulate efiectively in the drum while the latter rotates.
A further object of the invention is to provide a construction as above described wherein there is an exhaust conduit positioned axially of the drum at one end thereof, and wherein the fixed heating means surrounds the garment receiving opening and surrounds a perforated annular flange which projects from the marginal edge of the garment receiving opening, said annular flange being rotatable with the drum.
A further object of the invention is to provide a construction as above described wherein the drum is rotatable in an outer casing, and wherein there is a fixed door in the front of the outer casing which is in registration with the garment receiving opening in the front end of the drum, the perforated annular flange surrounding the garment receiving opening of the drum having its projecting edge rotatable closely adjacent to the periphery of the fixed door, and the heating means being positioned to surround said annular flange and being accommodated in the space between the front of the casing and the front of the drum,
Other objects of the invention are to provide a tumbler which is simple and inexpensive to man ufacture, easy to assemble, and which is well adapted for the purpose described.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the improved tumbler and all its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims and all equivalents thereof.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating one complete embodiment of the preferred form of the invention, in which the same reference numorals designate the same in all of the views:

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral ti designates a suitable supporting frame having legs Suitably supported on the base are rollers it, two on each side, which are engageable in external tracks it on the periphery oi a rotatable drum E2. The rollers not only serve to drive the rotatable drum but also support the same in its rotating movement. The rollers may be driven by any suitable means. In the illus trated form of the invention there is a pulley it which is driven from an outside source and said pulley causes rotation of a shaft M for one set of the rollers ill. Motion may be transmitted by means of an endless chain. or by any other suitable means from the shaft id to the shaft 55 for the other set of rollers ill. Thus rotation of the driven pulley it in a desired direction causes simultaneous rotation of the two sets of drum supporting rollers ill and rotation of the drum 62. Any other suitable means may be utilized for driving and transmitting power to the rollers. Furthermore, the rollers may be used merely as a rotatable support and the drum may be driven through any type of transmission desired.
The tumbler cylinder or drum :12 has an unperforated. peripheral wall. it and has a front wall ll formed with a garment receiving opening id. Surrounding the garment receiving opening ill is an outwardly projecting annular flange it. The flange it extends at an angle of approximately 45 and is formed with perforations 2&3.

A tumbler comprising a rotatable cylinder having a garment receiving opening in its front end and having an air'outlet opening in its rear end, a fixed outer casing housing at least said front end of the cylinder and having an air admission opening, said casing having a front portion spaced from the front of the cylinder and provided with a garment receiving opening in alinement with the garment receiving opening of the cylinder, a door for closing said openin of the outer casing, an apertured annular flange surrounding the garment'receiving opening of the rotatable cylinder and rotatable with the cylinder and projecting into the front space be tween the casing and front end of the cylinder, the front edge of said annular flange being closely adjacent to the periphery of the door opening of the casing, heating means positioned in said front space and surrounding said flange, and means including a fan for drawing air into the casing and for causing movement of said air radially along the exterior of the front end of .the cylinder in said front space, past said heating means, through the apertures in said annular flange and longitudinally through the cylinder to said air outlet opening.
4. Atumbler comprising a rotatable cylinder having a garment receiving opening in its front end, a fixed outer casing housing at least said front end of the cylinder and having an air admission openihg, said casing having a front portion spaced from the front of the cylinder and provided with a garment receiving opening in alinement with the garment receiving opening of the cylinder, a door for closing said opening of the outer casing, an apertured annular flange the casing and front end of the cylinder, the front edge .of said annular flange being closely adjacent to the periphery of the door opening of the casing, heating means positioned in said front space and surrounding said flange, and means including a fan for drawing air into the casing and for causing movement of said air radially along the exterior of the front end of the cylinder in said front space, past said heating means, through the apertures in the annular flange, and longitudinally through the cylinder.
5. A tumbler comprising a rotatable cylinder having a garment receiving opening in its front end, a fixed outer casing housing said front end conical in shape surrounding the garment resurrounding the garment receiving opening of the rotatable cylinder and rotatable with the cylinder and projecting into the front space between ceiving opening of the rotatable cylinder and rotatable with'the cylinder and projecting into the front space between the casing and front end of the cylinder, the front edge of said annular flange being closely adjacent to the periphery of the door opening of the casing. heating means positioned in said front space and surrounding said flange, and means including a fan for drawing air into the casing and for causing of movement of said air radially along the exterior of the front end of the cylinder in said front space, past said heating means, through the apertures in the annular flange, and longitudinally through the cylinder.
