COMBINED ELECTRIC RAZOR CASING AND CORD SUPPORT Filed Oct. 25, 1943 IN VEN TOR.
Haber! 6. Wilson Patented Aug. 21, 1945 COMBINED ELECTRIC RAZOR CASING CORD SUPPORT Robert 0. Wilson, Chula Vista, Calif assignor of one-fourth to Lyle Aicumbrack, Imperial Beach,
Calif.
Application October 25, 1943, Serial No. 507,504
4 Claims.
My invention relates to a combined electric razor casing and cord support and the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide a combined electric razor casing and cord support in which the razor casing is so constructed that it forms a support for the electric cord used for operating the razor;
Second, to provide an apparatus of this class whereby the cord forms a cushion for the razor casing and razor therein in case the razor casing falls or is dropped while the cord is wound thereon;
Third, to provide an apparatus of this class in which the general structure is applicable for various types of razors now in use with but slight changes;
Fourth, to provide an apparatus of this class in which the cover cap for protecting the cutting edge of the razor may be rigidly connected with one end of the cord while the other end of the cord may be rigidly connected with the razor operating motor in the casing and the cover cap forms an electric plug;
Fifth, to provide an apparatus of this class whereby the cord is easily started for winding on the casing,
Sixth, to provide an apparatus of this class whereby the razor casing, razor cutting edge guard, and electric conducting cord are always in their combined relation and ready for use either for storing the razor or for using the same;
Seventh, to provide an apparatus of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, easy to operate, efiicient in its action and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the characters of reference thereon which form a part of this application in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my combined electric razor casing and cord support showing the cord fragmentarily and showing the razor cutting edge guard removed by dash lines; Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the razor cutting edge guard; and Fig. 3 is a fragmentary side elevational view of the razor casing omitting the cord.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts throughout the views of the drawing.
The casing I, cord 2, and razor cutting edge guard I constitute the principal parts of my combined electric razor, casing and cord support.
The casing l is preferably shaped as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing but may be of any similar conventional shaped razor casin preferably provided in one end, being the end opposed to the cutting edge, with an opening la which extends upwardly in the casing in the conventional manner adapted to receive the electric conductor cord 2 for the razor operating motor which is connected thereto in any conventional manner, being no part of my present invention.
The casing i is a provided with a groove lb which starts adjacent the opening Ia and extends around the small end of the razor casing in spiral-like form, as shown best in Fig. l of the drawing and is gradually in closer relation until the wire positioned therein is in substantial contact with the adjacent convolution of the cord, as shown best in Fig. 2 of the drawing. It is preferred to have the cord of sumcient length to substantially cover the casing I in convolution form. To the opposite end of the cord 2 is connected a combined razor cutting edge guard and an electric cord plug 3. This plug 3 is provided in one side with a recess 3a which conforms with the cutting edge of the razor casing which is arranged to fit snugly thereon. This member 3 is made of insulation material and embedded in the outer side thereof is a cup-like member 312 in which are supported the terminals 3c. pression 3d in the member 3 and the wire terminals 2a and 2b from the cord 2 are secured to the terminals 3c which are arranged to be pressed into electric light sockets.
- Let it here be noted that the particular form of the support for the terminals 30 with the connection of the cord 2 with the guard 3 and with the razor casing 2 may be varied without departing from the essence of my invention.
The operation of my combined electric razor casing and cord support is substantially as follows:
When the razor is not in use, the guard 3 is positioned on the cutting edge of the razor casing, as shown in solid lines in Fig. 1 of the drawing. The cord is wound onto the casing i substantially the full length of the casing. When it is desired to use the razor the guard 3 is removed from the cutting edge and the cord unwound from the casing l. The terminals 30 are inserted into an electric wall or other like electric sockets and the razor is ready for use. When through with the razor the cord 2 is started near The cord 2 is mounted in a slight de-' the opening to in the groove lb and wound in said groove until the convolutions oi the cord come into contact one with another and then the cord is wound on the casing and the guard "3 pressed onto the cutting edge of the razor casing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a combined electric razor casing and cord support of the class described, the combination of an electric razor casing provided with a spiral-like groove near one end of said casing and an electric razor operating cord wound in said groove and around the body of the casing.
2. In a, combined electric razor casing and cord support of the class described, the combination of an electric razor casing provided with a spiral-like groove near one end of said casing, an electric razor operating cord wound in said groove and around the body of the casing. and a combined razor cutting edge guard and electrical terminal plug connected with the opposite end of said cord.
3. In a combined electric razor casing and cord support 01 the class described, the combination of an electric razor casing, an electric cord in connection therewith, and means to facilitate the starting of the winding of the cord surrounding the longitudinal axis of said casing.
' 4. In a combined electric razor casing and cord. support of the class described, the combination. of an electric razor casing, an electric cord in connection therewith, means to facilitate the starting of the winding of the cord surrounding the longitudinal axis of said casing, and a combined razor cutting edge guard and electric plug terminal in connection with the opposite end of said cord.
ROBERT C. WILSON.
