UMBRELLA ANDWATER-COOLER STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 237,488, dated February 8, 1881. Application filed May 24, 1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN F. CONWAY, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented Improvements in Umbrella and Water-Oooler Stands, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a perspective of umbrella-stand Fig. 2, a perspective of water-cooler stand, and Fig. 3 a vertical section of the water-cooler stand, enlarged.
My invention has for its object to provide a fixture or device capable of use alternately as an umbrella and a water-cooler stand.
My invention consists in the combination, with a peculiarly-constructed umbrella-stand, having a detachable top, afiording a rest for a water-cooler, of a cup-support and drip-receiver, allas hereinafterdescribed and claimed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Fig. 1 indicates an umbrella-stand consisting of the ring A, supported on legsB B, between which latter is fastened a pan or like vessel, 0, for receiving the drip from umbrellas.
Fig. 2 represents said stand converted into astandforawater-cooler. Thisis accomplished by fitting over the ring A a metallic top, D, having an annular flange, cl, for embracing 0 said ring, or other equivalent means of attaching said top in position on said ring. Said top may have the cup-support and drainer (shown at E) formed integral with it, and I have so shown it; but I do not limit my invention to the top D and support E made in one piece, as they may be separate. 7
The support E forms, also, a receiver for the drip from the faucet of the water-cooler and a drainer for the cup. To carry off the drip from said support a tube, 0, is provided, running from its bottom through one of the legs B to a detachable pipe, F, which leads to the pan 0. The top, with its tube and pipe, may, in a moment, be applied to the umbrella-stand and as readily removed, accordingly as the stand may be desired for umbrellas or for a cooler.
What I claim as my invention is The combination, with an umbrella-stand composed of parts A B O, of a detachable top affording a rest for a water-cooler and a cupsupport and drip-receiver, E, substantially as shown and described.
