Description
Patented Aug. 29, 1944 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in pin game lifts.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a pin game lift adapted to pick up practically any size pin game and hold same securely and safely in position while moving the pin game to the desired location.
A further object of my invention is to provide a pin game lift which enables one man to do the work formerly required by two men, and which eliminates the necessity of dismantling pin games preparatory to moving and installation.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a pin game lift with an improved hydraulic check, through the use of which the machine is set down silently and quietly at the desired 1ocation.
Still another object of my invention is to provide a pin game lift of the character specified that is simple and economical in construction and highly efficient and durable in use.
In the accompanying drawing, which is for illustrative purpose only and is therefore not drawn to scale:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pin game lift, embodying my improvements, and Figure 2 is an enlarged detail sectional View of the spring controlled cat-ch and `co-acting pin, and associated parts, for holding the upper platform in raised position.
Referring to the drawing for a more particular p description of my invention, and in which drawing like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, A designates a pin game of any ordinary or approved make now on the market and B my pin game lift, as a whole.
Specifically, my pin game lift comprises the rectangular oblong lower frame I, mounted on the casters 2 and consisting of side and vertical bars 3 'and 4, respectively, suitably joined together at the corners of the frame.
An upper platform 5 is mounted for vertical movement on the lower frame I and provides a support or rest for the bottom of the pin game. The front edge of the platform 5 is provided with the safety flanges 6 to prevent the pin game from slipping off while loading or unloading on an incline. The upper platform 5 is raised to lift the pin game off the oor, by means of the bell cranks 1, hinged to the cross rod 8 and connected to said platform by the links 9. T'he upper platform is held in elevated or raised position by the spring controlled catch IU and co-acting pin II, situated at the adjacent corner of the lower frame I. The catch I0 is pivoted at its upper end, as at I2, to the outer end of the corresponding bell crank 1, and is formed in its lower end with a recess I3 adapted to receive said pin. The catch I0 is provided with a foot release I4.
A hydraulic check I5 is arranged at a suitable incline between the rear end of the lower frame I and the upper platform 5, the purpose of which will presently appear.
In practice, the lift is rolled under the pin game about to be moved, when the operator simply presses down on the cross bar I6 with one foot. This elevates the pin game above the floor and locks it securely in this position while moving the pin game to the desired location. After the machine has been rolled into the desired position for installation, the upper platform 5 is released by pressing on the fooil release I4 by means of the foot, when the hydraulic check I5 allows the upper platform 5 to slowly descend and set the pin game gently and silently on the floor.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desired to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A pin game lift, comprising a portable rectangular lower frame, comprising vertical corner members and horizontal connecting members, an upper platform, means connecting said platform and said lower frame for relative movement, a bell crank pivoted on each side of the lower frame, a Icross'bar connecting the outer ends of the bell cranks, links connecting the inner ends of the bell cranks with the upper platform and a spring controlled catch and co-acting pin cooperating with said bell cranks and frame to hold the platform in raised position.
LOUIS BERMAN.
