1 Claim.
This invention relates to a desk pad, and more particularly to 'a device of this class wherein means are provided to maintain the writing sur-.
face at an inclined writing level.
My invention will be best understood by reference to the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawing. In the drawing, Fig. 1 is 'a perspective view of a desk pad embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is a side view, partly in elevation and partly in section, to show the means for maintaining the writing surface at an inclined writing level.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral l designates generally a desk pad which may be constructed of any suitable material and made in any preferred design. Inthe embodiment shown the desk pad is molded of plastic material and comprises a base member 2 having molded in- Extending upwardly from the base member at the rear thereof, and molded integrally with the base, a retaining member 4 is provided between which and a base plate 5, sheets of paper or a calendar pad 6 are maintained. Through suitable openings in the upper surface of the retaining member 4, knurledheaded screws I extend and are threaded into the base plate 5 near the rear end thereof. The forward end of the base plate rests at all times adjacent the front end of the base member 2. Thus, it is apparent, that as the screws 1 are turned the rear end of the base plate 5 travels thereon. Hence, as the sheets of paper are used and removed from the pad the screws can be turned to raise the pad until the writing surface of the top sheets abuts the downwardly turned lip 8 of the retaining member 4, thus maintaining the pad at an inclined writing level.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A device of the class described, comprising in combination, abase member and a retaining member integral therewith extending upwardly from the rear of the base member, projecting horizontally over and in spaced relation to the base member and terminating in a downwardly extending lip, a base plate inclined with respect to the base member, a plurality of sheets of paper on the base plate positioned between the latter and the lip of the retaining member, screw means projecting through the horizontal portion of the retaining member and through the sheets of paper and threadedly engaging the base plate near its rear end, the forward end of the base plate abutting the forward end of the base member.
