The invention relates to the formation of mixtures of fluids and the delivery of these mixtures and concerns particularly the means to be used to ensure such formation and delivery.
'Ihe main purpose of the invention is to render these means more eilicient and better suited to meet the requirements, particularly so as to insure the mixing of at least two fluids in any desired proportion and then the delivery of this mixture in any desired quantities.
Tothis end, the invention consists in the parts and the arrangements and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

Within the body 9 of the cock there is formed a chamber II accommodating an operating member for the valves 5 and 6, this operating member being such and adapted to execute such movements that by one of these movements it actuates one of the valves, for example the valve 6, conveniently in a progressive manner; by another movement it opens the valve 5 while allowing the valve 6 to close, and by yet anotherV movement it allows the valve 5 to close without simultaneous action on the valve 6.
To this end, in the example illustrated, there is provided a cam shaped member I8, mounted in the chamber Il so as to rotate and oscillate in this chamber on an axle I9 suitably pivoted in the body 9 of the cock.
A s illustrated, the cam IS is provided with two bosses A and B, the central lines OA and 0B of which form between them an angle the value of which depends on the relative positions of the heads I2 vand I3 and which, in the example, differs from while the heads l2 and I3 are located at the ends of one diameter.
By imparting a circular movement to the cam I8, for example in the clockwise direction,lthe boss 2l engages the head I2 and moves the valve 6 away from its seat until a maximum opening position of this valve has been reached, the inclined portion of the boss 22 being ,then about to engage the head I3. y Bycontinued rotation oi the cam in the vsame direction, the boss 2i having passed the centre of the head I2, releases progressively the valve 6 which then returns on its seat, while the boss 22 moves progressively the valve 5 away from its .4o seat to a point of maximum opening.`
' At this moment. the head I2 has been released by the boss 2| and the valve 6 is again applied .upon its seat.
.Y The rotating movement of the cam being yet, continued, the inclined portion of the boss 22 then allows the valve' 5 to return on its seat.
` During this latter. period of movement, no conl tact has taken place between the cam and the head I2 so that the valve 6 remains in its closed 50 position. f y l v From the above will be seen that the fluid passling through the valve l may be admitted alone in the chamber I'l; that by progressive closing of this valve and progressive opening of the valve 5 the fluids passing through the valves i and 5 respectively will be admitted into the chamber I I in variable quantities, decreasing for one uid and increasing for the other fluid, so that any desired mixture may be formed, and that the complete closing of the valve 5 and the opening of the valve 5 correspond to the admission in the chamber Il of the fluid passing through this valve.
In the foregoing, it has been assumed that the cam I8 is moved in the clockwise direction, but it is obvious that a similar operation of the valves is obtained by a movement of the cam I8 in the opposite direction. Moreover, to perform the described cycle of operation, the angular movement of the cam does not exceed a portion of a turn, so that within the 360 of a turn, two or more sectors are available in each of which the movement of the cam provides, in the one and the other directions, a complete cycle of operations. 'I'he cam may naturally be provided with more than two bosses such as 2i or 22.
It enters also within the limits of the invention to provide for more than two supplies of fluids having different characteristics and to arrange the cam I8 so as to obtain the desired actions on the valves controlling these supplies to form the desired mixtures of these fluids.
With reference to Fig. 2, vthe resulting iiuid occupying the chamber I1 is carried towards any external apparatus adapted for using this fluid by means of the hollow trunnion I9 'of the voperating cam I8, the fluid flowing through suitable openings 23 and 24 of the hub 25 and said trunnion, respectively.
It has been pointed out in the foregoing within the 360 of possible angular movement of the cam two or more sectors may be found in` each of which the desired cycle of operations may be performed.
According to the invention, advantage is taken of this possibility to ensure the distribution of the resulting uid to each of a series of external branches.
To this end, the mixingdevice is associated with a distributing device, the operation of which having a side opening or lpassage 30 which, for.
suitable positions of the trunnion 29, enables the iiuid to enter one of the chambers 3| or 32, the chamber 3l having an extension 33 provided with a coupling 3l and the chamber 32 being provided with a nozzle 35. s
The inner space of the trunnion 29 is divided by means of a partition I5 into two chambers I'I and ll communicating through an opening 39.
- 'I'his opening 35 is fitted with a valve I I the tail 4I of which is connected to a movable part 42 of the operating handle 28 for the trunnion 2l and the cam I8, the position of said movable part being adjustable relatively tothe xed part 43 for example through the intermediary of a ing I! so as to open or close said opening in order to adjust the delivery of the resulting fluid, and that this delivery adjustment may be ensured in any desired position of the cam I8 and trunnion 29, that is for any desired composition of the resulting fluid and for each of the distribution pipes, i. e. extension 33 and coupling 34 or nozzle 35.
'I'hus by the operation of a single member one may obtain, the adjustment of the composition' of the resulting iluid, the adjustment of the delivery of this uid and a desired direction of the distribution, observing that when modifications occur in the delivery of the resulting iiuid, the composition of the latter is in no way modified, and that the resulting fluid may as well be distributed to more than two diierent branches that is a number of branches equal to the number of the sectors of the chamber I1 which each corresponds to a complete cycle of operations, as pointed out in the foregoing.
It is to be understood that the described arrangement of the valve I0 and of its operating drive is by way of example only and that similarv or equivalent arrangements may be used in lieu thereof, 'l
In the arrangement according to Figures 5 and 6 which relate to an alternative construction, the resulting uid is distributed to a single branch 45, but with a delivery controlled by means of a valve Il actuated in a manner similar to that of the valve 48 of the Figures 3 and 4.
In this arrangement, the pipes supplying the fluids to be mixed are located more or less close together and due to this the valves 5 and 5 and their rods II and Il are arranged in a V formation, while the outline-of the cam I8 becomes pproximately an oval. In Iother respects this arrangement and its operation are inaccordance with the description given in reference to the preceding Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4.
'I'he described mixing devices maybe used for widely diil'erentl purposes; however they have been specially devised for ltting baths and similar equipments.
In this connection and in accordance with the Figures? tol 9 the mixing and distributing device has been combined with a syringe-injector' by means of which one may obtain, at will, either the injectionthrough a nozzle with the desired delivery of a resulting fluid of a predetermined composition or the flow of said iluid through the same nomic under a comparatively small pressure head for syringing purpose.
The arrangement of these figures includes a mixing device for example inaccordance` with the Figures 1v and 2. The distributing hollow trunnion I! of this mixing device is provided with an extension in the form of a hollow trunnion 25 fitted with an obturating member Il operated by a handle 2l similar to the handle of the device illustrated in the Figures -3 and 4 or 5 and v6, for controlling the delivery oi the resultingiiuid at thevnozzle or coupling I5 to which is connected the injection pipe (not shown.)
Further there is provided a container 45 communicating through a. passage I1 with the chamber Il accommodating the trunnion 2! having a passage 4l so formed therein that when said passage is placed into communication' with the passage Il, both the supply pipes of theiluids'to cation between the passage 49 and the passage il 2,236,182 41 will be possible through the whole of the cor-v delivery of said pipes, means rotatable in theA responding sector of the operation of the mixing device. Should syringing be desired, the container 46 is rst filled with the aid of a flexible injection pipe (not shown), by executing the same operations asin the case oi the injection proper; then by suitably rotating the hollow trunnion 29, the, passage 4S is made to coincide with the passage 41, while the valves 5 and t are returned to their closed positions due to the corresponding rotation of the cam I8, and, by then opening thel valve 80 by suitable actuation of the member 42 of the handle 28, the liquid of the container 48 is allowed to iiow towards the nozzle and the pipe connected therewith.
To ensure the coincidence between the passages 49 and 41 one o! the movements of the cam Il corresponding to a sector in which both the obturating members 5 and 8 are closed may be used or alternatively, the cam il may be shaped so that both obturating members are closed during a more extended period of movement of the trunnion 2s and cam I8 than that ensuring the desired coincidence. i

I claim.:
l. A valve device for forming predetermined mixtures of uids and delivering said mixtures in predetermined quantities comprising in combination, a valve body, pipes supplying iuids of di'erent characteristics united to said body,
valves mounted in said body for controlling the delivery of said pipes, a rotatable cam-shaped member for controlling the positions of saidv valves, said body having a mixing chamber, means forming a delivery outlet, a rotatable trunnion, said trunnion connected to said cam-shaped `member and provided with a passage for the `iiuid iiowing from the mixing chamber to the delivery outlet, means for adjusting the ilow of the iluid through the passage of the trunnion, a handle movable in a single plane and connected to the trunnion to rotate the'latter and the cam-shaped members, and means movable on said handle for actuating the control means of the iluid passage of the trunnion. valves mounted'in said body for controlling the delivery of said pipes, arotatable cam-shaped member for controlling the positions of said valves, said body having a mixing chamber, means providing a delivery outlet, a rotatable trunnion, said trunnion being'operatively connected to said cam-shaped member, a partitioned passage through said trunnion for the iiuid flowing from said mixing chamber towards said outlet, said partition havinga valve opening therein and a valve associated to said opening, a handle for rotating hetrunnion, and means axially movable on sa d handle for operating the valve. 4. A valve device forA forming predetermined mixtures of iiuids and delivering said mixtures in predetermined quantities comprising in combination, a valve body, pipes supplying fluids of diierent characteristics united to said body, valves mounted in saidbody for controlling the delivery -of said pipes, a rotatable cam-shaped member for-controlling the positions of said valves, said body having 'a mixing chamber, means ,providing a delivery outlet, a rotatable trunnion operatively connected to said cam- Ashaped member, a partitioned passage through said trunnion for the fluid viiowing from said mixing chamber towards said outlet, said partition having an opening therein, a handle movable in a single plane and operatively connected to said trunnion to rotate the same,'a valve member mounted in said handle and cooperating with the opening of the partition for controlling said opening, and rotatable parts on said handle to adjust the position of the valve member relatively to the opening.

A valve device for forming predetermined mixtures of fluids and delivering said mixtures in predetermined quantities comprising in combination, a valve body, pipes supplying uids of different characteristics united to said body, said body having a mixing chamber therein, means for controlling the delivery of 'each of said pipes to said mixing chamber to form mixtures, external distributing branches, a distributing device. for distributing the resulting mixtures to said branches including a hollow rotatable vaxially motionless' trunnion having a delivery outlet communicating with said mixing chamber, said trunnion being operatively connected to the control means, a handle movable in a single plane for operating the rotatable trunnion whereby the formed mixtures may be delivered to a selected external branch, and means on the handle to adjust the flow ofthe resulting mixtures through said trunnion.
