Arehns Mekaniska V/erkstad, Stockholm, Sweden, a joint-stock company of Sweden Application February 19, 1937, Serial No. 126,715 In Sweden February 21, 1936 3 Claims.
This invention relates to improved containers, and more particularly bags or cartons having double walls one of which constitutes a relatively thin lining or cover.
5 It is a main object of my invention to provide sealed carton.
40 age is well adapted for the storage of its contents Referring to the dra ng, the carton or envelope 8 of stiff material encloses a thin lining ll of flexible material, and the upper end of the carton has two cut out and oppositelydisposed triangular flaps 9 and two out out and oppositely disposed rectangular flaps l0 and I3. As shown in Fig. 2, the four flaps serve to fold the lining when the package is to be sealed by closin the outwardly projecting top end of the lining. When the flaps 9, I0 and I3 together with part of the lining are folded down upon thecontents of the package the lining is folded transversely about the front edge I of the flap l3, and the outwardly projecting end I! (Fig. 2) of the lining is folded reversely about the front edge l5 of the flap Ill and folded to superimpose the flap I II and form a flat and very tight closure which not only seals the inner lining but also the interspace between the inner lining and outer 5 envelope.
The coiled fold 5 obtained is covered with a sealing band 6 the ends of which are pasted to the sides of the carton. Thereby, the closure coil willnotbeinjured when itisopened, but the packuntil it is completely emptied.
I claim: 1. A container comprising a carton having a lining, said carton having at its upper edge two 5 oppositely disposed, cut out, triangular, inwardly bent closure flaps that cover said lining and two oppositely disposed, cut out, rectangular flaps that are bent down upon said triangular flaps so that part of said lining is clamped directly between said rectangular and triangular flaps, said rectangular flaps overlapping one another in part, said lining projecting beyond said flaps and being bent rearwards about the front edge of the uppermost of said rectangular flaps .420 form a. top closure covering said front edge. a
2. A container having a stiff envelope and a lining, said .envelope having at its upper edge a lower pair of oppositely disposed cut out in-- wardly bent closure flaps and an upper pair of oppositely disposed closure flaps which are bent inwardly over both the lower flaps, the top end of said lining projecting beyond said flaps and being folded transversely in opposite directions and covering the front marginal portions of both of said upper flaps to secure said upper flaps in folded down position and to seal the space between the lining and envelope, part of said lining superimposing said lower flaps and being superimposed by said upper fla'ps, and means for holding said projecting portion of the lining in folded over both the lower flaps, the top end portion of said lining projectlng beyond said flaps and being folded transversely in opposite directions and covering the front marginal portions of both of said upper flaps tosecure the upper flaps in folded down position and to seal the space between the lining and envelope, part of saidlining superimposing said lower flaps and said part being superimposed by said upper flaps, and a sealing strip superimposing the top end portion of said lining when folded and being opposite sides of said envelope.
