'This Second valve is' a check valve to prevent the draining of gasoline from the dispensing pumps back to the tank and is accessible. It is located within the pit 3 and can be readily adjusted for accuracy by removing the screw plug 42a. The opening thus uncovered by removing the screw plug 42a is larger than the valve 40 so that it can be readily removed, adjusted and replaced. A spacing pipe 60 extends between an upper collar 5I, fastened to the casing 39, and a lower collar 62 surrounding the opening in the tank 25, such spacing pipe serving through said collars to connect the casing 39 with the tank, and acting as a protecting covering for the pipe 34 between the tank and casingf` f Y The third valve construction. which is one of the essential features of this pump is the check valve 44 which is normally spring pressed downwardly by the spring 45. vAccess to this lvalve is secured by removing the plug 46. This valve is located to control the passage of fluid through the passageway 4Tleading from the chamber 31 and the passageway 48 leading from the chamber 49. This chamber 49 communicates with the space 50 formed between the tube 35 and the drive shaft or tube I 6. The bottom-ofthis space 5D communicates with the drain opening 5| for the return of gasoline to the tank 25. By adjusting the screw plug 46 and the compression of spring 45, an accurate adjustment can be eifected readily from within the pit 3 to regulate the pressure of delivery by the pump so that any excess over that pressure will be relieved bythe relief valve 44 return- Ving the by-passed gasoline back into the tank.
This pressure relief valve may be located beyond valve 40' so that the `by-pass pressure will return from chamber 43 into the space 50 or it may be arranged as indicated.
It will be understood that it is desired to comprehend within this invention such modifications as come within the scope of the claimsand the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a fluid dispensing apparatus, a source of supply of liquid to be dispensed, a pump immersed therein, a delivery pipe extending from the pump to a point of discharge, and a return pipe arranged concentrically within said delivery pipe and forming a connection between the pressure relief valve and the tank, a check valve adjacent the pump to prevent the drain back of `liquid through the pump into the tank, a pressure relief valve outsideof the tank adapted to return the liquid so pumped into the tank when a predetermined excess pressure has been created by the.
pump, said relief valve being located at a point remote from said pump and said tank outside of the tank.
2. In a gasoline dispensing apparatus, a motor and valve pit therebeneath 'accessible from the top of the ground, a remotely located gasoline tank therebeneath, a centrifugal pump located therein, means in said pit for driving said pump, means connecting said driving means to said pump, a fluiddelivery pipe from said pump surroundingrsaid connecting means and extending into said pit, a bottom check valve in said tank above said pump, a pit check valve at the top of said fluid delivery means accessible from said pit to prevent thev return of fluid to the tank from a dispensing apparatus to which the fluid is being delivered, a by-pass check valve at the top of said fluid delivery pipe accessible for adjustment from said pit, a drain-back pipe leading therefrom back to said tank, a spacing pipe connecting said tank and said pit, and means on top thereof for supporting said uid delivery pipe and drain back pipe in concentric relationship within said tank.
3. In combination, a tank, a centrifugal pump mounted therein, a remotely actuated drive shaft for said pump, a tubular casing for delivery Vof fluid from the pump,v an interior casing spaced therefrom for returnlngfiuid from the top of the first casing back tothe tank, said interior casing opening into said tank at its lower end and both of said casings surrounding said drive shaft, a check valve between the pump and the rst mentioned casing, a pressure operated by-pass valve at the; top of the first and secondmentioned casings for regulating communication therebetween,
' and a third check valve at the outlet ofthe first' mentioned casing to control the delivery of uid 1 check valve between the pump andthe first mentioned casing, a pressure operated by-pass valve at the ktop of the first and second mentioned casings for regulating communication therebetween.

In combination, a storage tank for; liquid, a remote chamber for containing a motor and valve mechanism, a spacer pipe between said tank and chamber, a concentrically arranged pipe supporting a. pump and suspended by said spacer pipe, a valve housing in communication with said supporting pipe, a drain back check valve in said housing between the point of discharge therefrom and said pump pipe, a concentrically arranged drain back pipe within said pump pipe communieating with said tank,`a by-pass valve in said housing communicating on one side with said pump pipe and on the other side with the drain back pipe, a pump on the end of said pump pipe in saidtank, a motor shaft concentrically arranged within said drain back pipe connected to said pump at one end and to a motor mounted on said housing at the other end, and a second check valve at the bottom of said pump and drain back pipes between the pump and pump pipe.
6. Inv combination, a tank, a pump therein, a iiuid delivery pipe supDQrting said pump extending out ofthe tank remotely, a pressure operated by-pass valve at the' top of said pipe, a drain back pipe concentrically arranged relatively lto said delivery pipe in communication `with f the discharge side of the by-pass valve and with said tank, a check valve between said pumpand the bottom of the fluid delivery pipe, anda relief port direct from said pump to said tank between the top of the pump and the bottom of said pump ,check valve, and yielding means for normally maintaining said check valve in closed position until said pump lifts the valve by predetermined fluid pressure pumped by it.
7. In combination, a motor driven centrifugal pump, a tank in which said pump islocated, a delivery pipe connected to the pump, a primary check valve in said delivery pipe to prevent drain back of the fluid, a drain back pipe arranged within and concentric with said delivery pipe communicating with the top ofthe delivery pipe and with said tank, a pump shaft for said pump located within said drain back pipe, a. motor above said pipes connected to vsaid pump shaft which is connected to the pump below said pipes,
a secondary checkvalve at the top of said delivery pipe, a pressure relief `valve adjacent the top of said delivery pipe betweenit and said drain back pipe, and means communicating therewith for returning by-passed pumped fluid from the top of the delivery pipe to the top of the drain back pipe and thence back to the tank.
