This invention relates to foundation garments and particularly to leg bands and hose supporters connected with the lower edge portion of the garment and functioning to support 5Y the hose as well as to hold the garment in a lowered and properly functioning position.

Another object of the invention is to provide .a retaining leg band for corsets or other foundation garments, which when in functioning position will encircle the respective legs and extend from spaced points on the garment, and which may be readily removed at any time when not desired.

A further object of the invention is to provide in an undergarment leg-encircling bands, hose supporters, and connecting structures arranged at spaced points on the garment for removably connecting the respective bands .and hose supporters.

Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, I indicates a corset or other foundation garment which may be of any desired construction, as for instance a garment that is elastic circumferentially but substantially non- 45 elastic longitudinally.

In garments of this kind it has been found that the lower edge portion and, in fact, the lower part of the garment creeps up and moves out of correct functioning position. In order to 50 prevent this action a pair of leg-encircling bands 2 and 3 are provided, there being one band for each leg, which when in functioning position, as shown in Fig. l, will prevent the garment I riding up. Associated with these bands are 55 hose supporters 4 and 5.

The respective bands 2 and 3 are preferably longitudinally elastic but they could be made of inelastic material. Preferably at each end the respective bands are turned over to form loop portions or hems 6. The bar 'I of the band hook 8 extends through the hem 6 while the hook part 9 removably extends through a loop portion I0 forming the under part of a short strap II held in place by stitching I2. The stitching I2 also extends through a strap I4 which is provided with a loop I5. It will therefore be noted that the stitching I2 connects the straps II and I4 together and as the stitching extends through the garment I these straps are firmly stitched to the garment vI at the lower edge portion thereof. The straps II and I4 may be elastic or inelastic material as preferred but preferably are formed of some strong fabric. It will be understood that the bands 2 and 3 are identically formed at each end and that all of the straps II and I4 are identical except that they are properly spaced apart to locate correctly the various hose supporters. It will therefore be understood that a description of one group of these members will apply to all groups.

'Ihere are four hose supporters with assoelated groups of straps I I and I4, while there are only two leg-encircling bands 2 and 3. The straps II and I2 of one group are spaced from similar members of the other group and arranged so that there will be one group near the center of the front of each leg. The other two groups are arranged at the sides or rear part of the garment as preferred so that the strain of the hose supporters on the stockings may be properly distributed and the stocking properly supported.

It will be noted that the hook part of the member 9 is provided with a rounded head 9 so that it may be readily pushed or threaded through the loop I0 but will not become readily disengaged therefrom.

In regard to the hose supporters it will be understood that they are of identical construction so that a description of 4 will apply to all supporters. As illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, supporter 4 is provided with the usual strap I6 having the conventional buttons I1 coacting with the usual metal loop I8 so as to engage the hose when the hose supporter is in use. The strap I6 is provided with a loop 2li through which the rear bar 2l extends. A hook portion 22 extends through the loop I5 and is held against accidental removal by an enlarged head 22. In this form of the invention the bar 2| merges into an arc-shaped pinching bar 23 coacting with an upstanding part 24 on hook 22, whereby the hook 22 will not become accidentally disengaged from loop I5. It will be understood, however, that the hook 22 may be manually actuated for disengagement from the loop I5 and the hook 9 may be manually disengaged from the loop II). These hooks may be readily applied or removed at any time so that if desired all of the hose supporters and both the bands 2 and 3 may be used at the same time. Also, if desired, the bands 2 and 3 may be removed and only the hose supporters used.

When it is desired to wash the foundation garment I, all the hose supporters are removed and also both bands 2 and 3. After the garment has been properly laundered any of these members may be applied and thereby caused to function in the usual way.

It is understood that the hose supporters function in the usual way of supporting hose and assist in holding the garment I in its lowered or functioning position. However the main holding action of the garment I is produced by the two leg bands 2 and 3 which encircle the front and rear and the inner part of each leg, while the outer part of each leg is encircled by the lower edge portion of the garment I. In this way there is a desired holding action for maintaining the garment I in proper functioning position without producing any undesirable pressure or strain on any part. It will therefore be understood that the main feature of the garment is that it can be worn comfortably without the hose supporters, for instance when stockings are not worn, and the leg bands will hold the girdle down in place and prevent it from riding up.

I claim:

l. The combination with a foundation garment, of a plurality of spaced pairs of tabs permanently secured to the lower edge portion of said foundation garment, each of said tabs having a pair of loops, a leg band for each pair of tabs, said leg bands having a hook at each end for fitting into a loop on the respective tabs of a pair, and a hose support for each of said tabs provided with a hook removably mounted in a loop of the respective tabs.

2. The combination with a foundation garment, of four spaced tabs stitched to the lower edge portion of said foundation garment, each of said tabs having a loop extending circumferentially of the foundation garment and a loop extending longitudinally of the foundation garment, a pair of leg-encircling bands, a hook member at each end of each of said bands, said hooks being adapted to removably fit in to the respective loops which extend circumferentially of the foundation garment, a hose supporter for each of said tabs, and a hook carried by each of said hose supporters, said last-mentioned hooks being removably positioned in the respective loops which extend longitudinally of the foundation garment.

3. The combination with a foundation garment, of a pair of spaced devices secured to each side of said foundation garment adjacent the lower end thereof, each of said devices being formed with a loop, a leg-encircling band for each pair of said spaced devices, and a hook member secured to each end of each of said legencircling bands, the hook members of one legencircling band being removably positioned in the respective loops of one pair of spaced devices and the hook members of the other leg-encircling band being removably positioned in the respective loops of the other pair of spaced devices.

The combination with a foundation garment, of a plurality of pairs of spaced devices secured to said foundation garment adjacent the lower end thereof, each of said devices having a depending loop and a circumferentially extending loop, a hose supporter for each of said depending loops, a hook carried by each of said hose supporters for disengageably connecting said hose supporters with said depending loops, a leg-encircling band for each of said pairs of spaced devices, a hook secured to each of said leg-encircling bands at each end thereof, said` hooks acting to removably secure the respective ends of the leg-encircling bands to the respective circumferentially extending loops.

5. The combination with a foundation garment, of a plurality of hose supporters, a plurality of pairs of spaced tabs permanently secured to the lower edge portion of said garment at spaced points, each of said tabs having a depending loop and a circumferentially extending loop, a leg-encircling band for each leg of the person wearing the garment, a hook secured to each of said lbands at the respective ends thereof, the respective hooks being adapted to be removably positioned in the respective circumferentially extending loops, and a hose supporter hook secured to each of said hose supporters, said hose supporter hooks being adapted to be removably positioned in the respective depending loops.
