The closure means consists prifew drops at a time. This modification is parmarily of a threaded collar and a cap adapted to ticularly adapted to bottles containing various snap thereon, the cap and the bottle being addihand lotions and similar articles. tionally connected by means of a ball and socket. By again referring to Figure 3 it will be seen With the foregoing and other objects in view that a cap portion 8 is provided with a convenient which will appear as the description proceeds, lever 9 and a snap locking means comprising an 30 the invention resides in the combination and arannular shoulder l0 formed upon the threaded rangement of parts and in the details of concollar I andamatching annular groove ll formed struction hereinafter described and claimed, it within the cap p rtion 8. It is understood that being understood that changes in the precise emthe cap 8 and collar 1 are formed of moulded bodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can rubber or other material sufiiciently resilient to 5 be made withinthe scope of what is claimed, enable the snap-like arrangement to function. without departing from the spirit of the inven- A ball I! formed upon the cap 8 and positioned tion. in a-socket, l3 in the threaded collar 1 serves as a The invention is illustrated in the accompanypivot and holds the cap 8 securely upon the coling drawing, wherein:- lar I. 40
Figure 1 is a side elevation ofa bottle show- By referring to Figure 4 of the drawing, it will ing the closure means threaded upon the neck be seen that a modification is provided in that thereof. the threaded collar portion of the device has been Figure 2 is a side elevation of a collapsible tube formed as a collar H of a collapsible tube, an anshowing the closure means threaded upon the nular shoulder l5 being provided thereon and 45- neck thereof. adapted to receive a cap l6 having an annular Figure 3 is a greatly enlarged detail 'view, in groove l'l therein. The groove l1 and shoulder cross section, of the closure means as adapted for l5 are formed so as to provide a snap-like secuse upon a bottle and showing a modification in tion when engaged. A ball I8 is formed upon the form of a restricted orifice as a portion of the the cap l6 and functions within a socket I9 50 device. formed in the collar ll of the collapsible tube.
Figure 4 is an enlarged detail view of the clos- It is obvious that the closure means shown and ing means, with parts in'cross section, showing a described herein may be varied according to size, portion of the closing means formed as 'a part both as to the threaded collar portion and to the, of a collapsible tube. restricted orifice if and when formed therein. 55
It is apparent that the operation of the closure means depends upon the formation of the device of a suitable slightLv resilient material so that the snap-like provision will be operative and the ball pivot means insertable into the socket means provided.
What I claim is:-
1. Aciosuremeans adaptedforuseuponabotinsaidcollarandacaphavingaballiormed thereon adapted to function with the said socket in such manner that the cap is pivoted on the said ball and socket, an annular shoulder formed on said collar and an annular groove formed within said cap adapted to' function together in a snaplike manner, a lever formed on said cap adapted to provide a convenient thumb rest for operating the said closure means.
3. A tube or bottle closure comprising a tube or bottle having a collar formed thereon and provided with a socket therein, a cap provided wlth a ball adapted to function within the said socket so that the said cap may be pivoted upon the said ball and socket, an annular shoulder formed upon the said collar and an annular groove formed within the said cap, the said shoulder and groove adapted to function together ina snap-like manner, a. lever formed on the said cap adapted to provide a convenient thumb rest for operating an
