Abstract

An adjustable accessory for sun protection of the face designed to the rest of the user's head in a pillow (2), said pillow is mounted in a metal frame (8) that sustains a protection screen (9) that acts as an umbrella, comprising also an hinged device (6 or 7) that enables adjusting of the inclination angle of said screen (9), that angle corresponds to the part of the user's face to be protected of the sunlight. Description

  • The present utility model patent application presents inventive step and refers to an accessory designed to the rest of the user's head in a pillow, said pillow is mounted in a metal frame that sustains a screen that acts as an umbrella, comprising also an hinged device that enables adjusting of the inclination angle of said screen, that angle corresponds to the part of the user's face to be protected of the sunlight. The model also includes a variation of the geometric shape of the metal frame, which aims a better adaptation to the type of soil where is placed.
  • This model is an improvement of the patent application number MU8800811-8 of the same applicant, entitled “ACCESSORY FOR THE SUN PROTECTION OF THE FACE”. This new model aims is to be a visually appealing accessory that can be used to protect the face from the sun light and also allowing the adjustment of the inclination of the protective screen so that the user can continuously follow the sun movement and always remain protected. This adjustment can be done up or down as well as sideways according to the type of hinge used.
  • The new features of the proposed model overcomes the difficulties presented by the device revealed in the document MU7201520-9 that refers to a HINGED SHADOW MAKER designed to use in beaches, pools and other similar places. This device was designed to be used attached to a chair.
  • The harmful effects of the sun rays on human skin are public known, especially in sensitive areas like the face. Thinking about this problem and seeking to improve his invention, the inventor has developed the accessory to protect a person face against the sun rays while it is exposed to tanning. The accessory is a hinged mechanism used in the beach or used alone in the soil in order to produce shadow on the face of the person.
  • Currently most people who seek to tan, either in beaches, clubs or home, suffer from sun radiation directly in the face. People generally wear caps and sunglasses to ease this discomfort caused by excessive light, but this kind of protection is only partial, because it doesn't covers the entire face area. In the end this causes appearance of spots in the skin and different shades of tan between the protected and unprotected areas. These undesirable spots can be avoided by using the accessory here revealed. Besides the comfort to rest your head while in the sun another advantages of the accessory is to be easy to install and it's also easy to adjust the inclination of the shadow screen.
  • Its common knowledge that the ultraviolet rays irradiated from the sun hit Earth with enough intensity to harm human skin and to causes cancer. The accessory revealed in the present document was developed to block ultraviolet radiation (UVB) that is responsible for most cases of skin cancer, as well as the ultraviolet radiation (UVA) that induces aging and is related to development of malignant melanoma.
  • The utility model claimed here can be used in any season since the need for protection against both UVA and UVB rays is constant all the year.
  • The search for an accessory that protects the face against solar rays with maximum efficiency and accuracy has led to, after many calculations and research in parts, tests and assembly, the current development of an accessory that is practical and efficient to use. The novelty of the present application is in the mechanism that comprises an arched hinged screen that can be tilted downward, upward and sideways, so the device can be used by people when they are lying horizontally in several places like lawn, beach, around a pool, in a camping trip, among other situations.
  • The forward or backward movements of the mechanism are done manually to search for the best position for shading the user's face. The sides of the device are open to allowing free passage of the wind and refreshing of the user's head. Another feature that provides comfort is a pillow, which can either be filled with water or air through a valve that has just to be open to emptying the same. The pillow can also be filled with some synthetic or natural fiber. Another point that must be noted is that the device is hinged and can be folded and presented in a compact shape to transport.
  • The device will be explained in relation to the attached drawings which aim at the perfect understanding of the revealed utility mode, in which:
  • FIGS. 1 and 5 show perspective views of an accessory that has a double arm (4) and a straight base
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of an accessory that has double arm (4) and an undulating base designed to sandier land.
  • FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of the accessory that has a single arm (5) and a single hinge (7).
  • FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of an accessory that has a single arm (4) and an undulating base with more ripples designed to even sandier land.
  • FIG. 6 shows a perspective view of the folded accessory in a transport configuration.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE MODEL
  • Referring now to the attached drawings, the adjustable accessory for sun protection of the face comprise a structural frame (1) that could be produced in iron, aluminum, fiberglass, plastic or other suitable material that has enough strength, lightness and can be molded in the desired shape. The accessory is equipped with a anatomic pillow (2), that could be inflatable or not, preferably manufactured in soft rubber, shaped to provide a greater comfort to the user during the exposition to the sun, assembled on a base (3) that has curves to adapt to the ground or floor where it is placed. The structural frame (1) extends to originate a double arm (4) (showed in the FIGS. 1 and 2) associated to a double hinge (6). A variation of the accessory has a single arm (5) and a single hinge (7) (FIGS. 3 and 4). Both structures sustains an arched frame (8) where is mounted the protection screen (9) against UVB and UVA, which may have an advertisement area (10) and its used for the adjustment of positioning of the shadow.
  • The double hinge (6) enables to tilt up and down between the horizontal and vertical position of the frame (8).
  • The single hinge (7) enables to tilt up and down between the horizontal and vertical position, as well as the lateral displacement of the frame (8). It will be clear to anyone skilled in the art that the frame (8) can present other geometrical configurations.
  • The base (3) can be manufactured in plastic or metal and can present variations in shape in order to adapt to the type of soil where it is placed. Its width and curvature can be defined according to marketing needs.
  • The base (3) does not require fasteners to the ground and has an area larger than the pillow (2).
  • The present patent application refers to an adjustable accessory to sun light protection of the user's face designed to meet the requirements of functionality, mechanical strength and durability that its use demands. It also refers to modifications of known components in new shape and disposition.
