Abstract
A chair capable of a reduced transportation volume and rapid assembly includes a seat cushion fixing frame and a backrest supporting frame as separate components. The seat cushion fixing frame has an end coupled with an upside-down square U-shaped element bilaterally provided with downwardly extending sections, each section concavely provided with an oblique notch. The backrest supporting frame has an end corresponding in position to the seat cushion fixing frame and penetrated by a fixedly provided bar for being received in the oblique notches of the upside-down square U-shaped element during assembly. A resilient assembly is assembled to a bottom portion of a slot formed in a horizontal section of the backrest supporting frame. The two frames and the resilient assembly can be assembled rapidly without using tools. The seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame are detachable from each other for compact packaging, thus effectively reducing transportation and production costs thereof.
Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present invention relates to a chair capable of a reduced transportation volume and rapid assembly, wherein a seat cushion fixing frame and a backrest supporting frame of the chair can be assembled together and securely positioned relative to each other by a simple fastening operation without using tools, and wherein a resilient assembly corresponding in position to an end of the backrest supporting frame is coupled threadingly with the seat cushion fixing frame. The seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame are fabricated as separate elements and are detachable from each other for packaging so as to reduce the overall package volume, to facilitate stacking during transportation, and to effectively lower transportation and production costs.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Referring to
FIG. 1 andFIG. 2 , a commercially available chair assembly typically includes aseat cushion 10, a chair leg unit (not shown), abackrest 30, and left and right armrests (not shown). As shown inFIG. 1 , theseat cushion 10 is coupled to thebackrest 30 by means of afixing frame 20 fastened threadingly to a bottom portion of theseat cushion 10 and a supportingframe 40 fastened threadingly to a rear side of thebackrest 30. The fixingframe 20 bearing theseat cushion 10 and the supportingframe 40 holding up thebackrest 30 are soldered together at overlapping sections thereof so as to form a one-piece unit, as shown inFIGS. 1 and 2 . When the seatcushion fixing frame 20 and thebackrest supporting frame 40 soldered together as an individual finished component are packaged for shipment, a large package volume and consequently high transportation costs will occur as the two frames are not detachable from each other. - In view of the inconvenience of the seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame of the conventional chair in terms of fabrication, packaging, and transportation, the present invention provides an improvement in which a seat cushion fixing frame and a backrest supporting frame are fabricated as separate components detachable from each other for packaging so as to effectively reduce package volumes thereof, to facilitate stacking during transportation, and to lower transportation costs, and in which the seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame are assembled together and securely positioned relative to each other by a simple fastening operation.
- A primary objective of the present invention is to provide a chair including a seat cushion fixing frame and a backrest supporting frame which are fabricated as separate components. Therein, the seat cushion fixing frame has an end coupled with an upside-down square U-shaped element bilaterally provided with downwardly extending sections, each section concavely provided with an oblique notch. The backrest supporting frame has an end which corresponds in position to the seat cushion fixing frame and is penetrated by and fixedly provided with a bar to be received in the oblique notches of the upside-down square U-shaped element of the seat cushion fixing frame during assembly. In addition, a resilient assembly is assembled to a bottom portion of a slot provided penetratingly at a predetermined position of a horizontal section of the backrest supporting frame. The seat cushion fixing frame, the backrest supporting frame, and the resilient assembly can be assembled rapidly without using tools. Furthermore, the seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame are detachable from each other for packaging so as to effectively reduce package volumes thereof, to facilitate stacking during transportation, and to lower transportation costs.
- The invention as well as a preferred mode of use, further objectives, and advantages thereof will be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of an illustrative embodiment in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 3 is a side view of a seat cushion fixing frame, a backrest supporting frame, and a resilient assembly according to the present invention; -
FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the seat cushion fixing frame, the backrest supporting frame, and the resilient assembly according to the present invention; and -
FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view of the seat cushion fixing frame, the backrest supporting frame, and the resilient assembly according to the present invention. - Referring to
FIG. 4 andFIG. 5 , a chair capable of a reduced transportation volume and rapid assembly according to the present invention includes a seatcushion fixing frame 1 and abackrest supporting frame 2 which are fabricated as separate components. - The seat
cushion fixing seat 1 has a bottom portion provided with apneumatic lifting assembly 11 corresponding in position to the center of gravity of the seatcushion fixing frame 1. (Thepneumatic lifting assembly 11 is not a technical feature of the present invention and therefore is not described in detailed herein.) The seatcushion fixing seat 1 further has an end coupled with an upside-downsquare U-shaped element 12 bilaterally provided with downwardly extending sections, wherein each section is concavely provided with anoblique notch 121. - The
backrest supporting frame 2 has an end which corresponds in position to the seatcushion fixing frame 1 and is penetrated by and fixedly provided with abar 21 to be received in theoblique notches 121 of the upside-downsquare U-shaped element 12 of the seatcushion fixing frame 1 during assembly, as shown inFIG. 3 . - In addition, a
slot 22 is provided penetratingly at a predetermined position of a horizontal section of thebackrest supporting frame 2. Aresilient assembly 3 is assembled to a bottom portion of theslot 22. Theresilient assembly 3 includes an upper connectingelement 31, aresilient element 32, awasher 33, and a lower connectingelement 34, as shown inFIG. 4 . -
FIG. 5 illustrates how the seatcushion fixing frame 1, thebackrest supporting frame 2, and theresilient assembly 3 are assembled together. To begin with, thebar 21 fixedly provided at the end of thebackrest supporting frame 2 is put into theoblique notches 121 of the upside-downsquare U-shaped element 12 of the seatcushion fixing frame 1, as shown inFIG. 3 . Then, theresilient assembly 3 is placed against the bottom portion of theslot 22 provided penetratingly in the horizontal section of thebackrest supporting frame 2. Ascrew 35 is passed sequentially through ahole 13 formed in the seatcushion fixing frame 1 and corresponding in position to theslot 22 formed in the horizontal section of thebackrest supporting frame 2 and a central portion of theresilient assembly 3, before thescrew 35 is fastened with the lower connectingelement 34. Thus, the seatcushion fixing frame 1, thebackrest supporting frame 2, and theresilient assembly 3 are rapidly assembled into a one-piece unit without using any tools. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , when the seatcushion fixing frame 1, thebackrest supporting frame 2, and theresilient assembly 3 are to be packaged for shipment, the seatcushion fixing frame 1 and thebackrest supporting frame 2 are detachable from each other so as to be packaged separately in small volumes, thus allowing the various components to be stacked up during transportation to lower transportation costs.
Claims (2)
1. A chair capable of a reduced transportation volume and rapid assembly, comprising a seat cushion fixing frame and a backrest supporting frame which are fabricated as separate components, the chair being characterized in that:
the seat cushion fixing frame has an end coupled with an upside-down square U-shaped element bilaterally provided with downwardly extending sections, each said section being concavely provided with a notch;
the backrest supporting frame has an end corresponding in position to the seat cushion fixing frame and penetrated by and fixedly provided with a bar to be received in the notches of the upside-down square U-shaped element of the seat cushion fixing frame during assembly; and
a resilient assembly is assembled to a bottom portion of a slot provided penetratingly at a predetermined position of a horizontal section of the backrest supporting frame;
wherein the seat cushion fixing frame, the backrest supporting frame, and the resilient assembly can be assembled rapidly without using tools, and the seat cushion fixing frame and the backrest supporting frame are detachable from each other for packaging so as to effectively reduce package volumes thereof, to facilitate stacking during transportation, and to lower transportation costs.
2. The chair of claim 1 , wherein each said notch is concavely and obliquely provided at a corresponding one of the downwardly extending sections bilaterally provided at the upside-down square U-shaped element at the end of the seat cushion fixing frame.
