Abstract

The current invention discloses an attachment system for a personal shaver that allows a standard razor to be attached to a shower head assembly and contacted with the water flow from the shower head. This allows for the razor to be warmed to a desired temperature by regulating the temperature of the water flow from the shower head. The resulting temperature controlled razor can be used for a soothing, comfortable and warm shave. The user also can save time by shaving while taking a shower. Additionally, the present invention is relatively inexpensive to manufacture and can be used with standard razors and current packaging being sold and used. The attachment system is comprised of a body member with a fist end capable of attaching to a shower assembly and a second end capable of attaching to a personal shaver.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is directed towards attachments for hand held shaving devices. More specifically, the invention discloses an attachment device which allows standard disposable razors to be contacted with the hot water flow from a shower head.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • For most adults shaving is a daily activity that is required for proper hygiene and upkeep. With the fast paced life that most people live there is an increasing time constraint which reduces the amount of time most people have in the morning to shave. One alternative that many have chosen is to shave while taking a shower in the morning. Other than the time saving component, shaving in the shower offers some other appreciable advantages. One is that cleanup is facilitated by the water flow into the shower drain. In addition, the water flow from the shower head can be used to easily clean any hair that is caught in between the blades of a razor. Yet another advantage of shaving in the shower is the possibility of offering a constant heat source to provide a warm razor while shaving. A warm razor can soften the user's face and facial hair and a warm shave also is more comfortable and less abrasive. It would be an innovative breakthrough to offer the comforts and advantages of a warm shave similar to “old style” barber shop shaves while providing the affordable and time saving aspects that today's modern shaver demands. The present invention herein described is able to encompass these elements.
  • There are many products that offer the ability to utilize the water flow in showers while shaving or that offer the convenience to store razors in the shower. Currently, these products lack the capability to contact the razor head of handheld standard razors with the hot water flow from a shower head.
  • There have been a number of patents directed to the field of razor attachments and razors which utilize hot water flows. U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,205,441, 4,633,585, 4,733,468, 5,075,969, 5,177,870, 5,241,714, 6,305,082, 6,499,218 and 7,007,390 all disclose razor which can be directly connected to the water flow from a shower. However, these devices are expensive and require more difficult to install then the present invention. They also require specially designed razors as opposed to the present invention which can be used with standard razors currently being used and sold today.
  • U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,313,316 and 6,618,871 both disclose shower assemblies capable of storing and holding razors. However, these assemblies lack the capability to expose the razors to constant contact with the hot water flow from a shower head.
  • U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,839,198, 6,263,582 and 7,040,024 all disclose razors which have a means of attachment. However, none of these can be attached to a shower head so that the razor head can be in constant contact with the hot water flow from the shower head.
  • Currently there is a need for a device which can be easily attached and detached to a standard razor that allows the razor to be in constant contact with a hot water flow from a shower head to provide a convenient, soothing warm shave. Accordingly, the present invention described herein encompasses elements.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide an attachment which is compatible with standard razors. One end of the attachment can be secured to most shower head configurations. The other end can be easily attached to standard razors.
  • In a preferred embodiment, the razor attachment will use two prong self adjusting clamps, one larger clamp which attaches to the shower head and a smaller clamp which attaches to a razor. The body of the attachment will be constructed with accordion retractable plastic piping. This material allows the body to be flexible so that it can be configured to position the razor in the desired position by the user. This allows the hot razor attachment to be used with shower heads of various designs. In another embodiment the accordion retractable plastic piping can be used to wrap around the shower head and razor to avoid the need for clamps. In all embodiments, no metal parts will be used to avoid any potential problems with rusting.
  • In another alternative embodiment, the body of the hot razor attachment will be constructed of a rigid plastic material. The body has at least one movable elbow so the position of the razor can be adjusted so the razor head is in contact with the water flow from the shower head.
  • It is another object of the present invention to provide a system wherein the razor head of a standard razor can be placed in contact with water flow from a shower head. This will allow the razor head to be warmed to a desired temperature based on the water temperature in the shower. Once the desired temperature is reached the user can use the warm razor for a soothing, comfortable shaving experience.
  • It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a hot razor attachment that will be easy to use and inexpensive to manufacture. The present invention works with most standard handheld razors that are currently sold and used. This avoids the need to purchase new equipment. The present invention is also relatively simple in design, constructed of plastic and requires few parts. This will make the present invention inexpensive to manufacture.
  • It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a hot razor attachment that can be used by both men and women. The current invention will be able to be attached to the standard razors that both men and women use, so that users of both sexes can enjoy a convenient, comfortable shaving experience in the shower.
  • Finally, it is another object of the present invention to provide a hot razor attachment that can be easily packaged along with currently sold razors. Because of the size, adaptability and affordability of the present invention, it can be packaged with current razors without a significant departure from current packaging configurations.

  • The accompanying drawings, which are incorporated in and constitute a part of the specification, illustrate presently preferred embodiments of the invention, and together with the general description given above and the detailed description given below, serve to explain the principles of the invention.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • It will be readily understood that the components of the present invention, as generally described herein, could be arranged and designed in a wide variety of different formulations. Thus, the following more detailed description of the embodiments of the compositions or formulations of the present invention are not intended to limit the scope of the invention, as claimed, but are merely representative of the presently preferred embodiments of the invention.
  • Reference will now be made in detail to the presently preferred embodiments of the invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to like elements throughout.
  • Referring now to FIG. 1, the preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown. The attachment system 10 is shown in use with a shower head 14 assembly and a personal shaver 15. The body member 11 of the attachment system 10 is constructed from accordion retractable plastic piping. This material allows the body member 11 to be bent into many configurations. It is apparent that the body member may be designed for varying lengths to accommodate various shower head assembly designs. In other embodiments bendable plastic piping that can be bent into various positions can also be used.
  • Clamps 12, 13 are two prong self adjusting plastic clamps. Self adjusting clamp 12 is used to attach one end of the body member 11 to the shower head assembly 12. The self adjusting clamp 12 will generally range from 2 inches to 6 inches in diameter, although it is apparent that clamps of different diameters may be used with the attachment system 10. The self adjusting clamp 12 can be narrowed to fit the piping on shower head assembly 14.
  • Still referring to FIG. 1, self adjusting clamp 13 is used to attach the other end of the body member 11 to the personal shaver 15. The self adjusting clamp 13 will generally range from 1 inch to 1½ inches in diameter, although it is apparent that clamps of different diameters may be used with the attachment system 10. The self adjusting clamp 13 can be narrowed to fit the handle on personal shaver 15.
  • Again referring to FIG. 1, the method of using the attachment system 10 for personal shavers will be described. Once the body member 11 has been secured to the shower head assembly 14 and personal shaver 15 using clamps 12, 13 it can be positioned for use. The razor head 16 of the personal shaver 15 can be positioned to be in contact with the water flow 17 from the shower head assembly 14. By adjusting the water temperature the temperature of the razor head 16 can be regulated. When the razor head 16 is at a desired temperature the personal shaver 15 can be removed from the circular clamp 13. The user may replace the personal shaver 15 in the clamp 13 at any time so the razor head 16 can be reheated to a desired temperature using the water flow 17 from the shower head assembly 14.
  • It is appreciated that the attachment system can be designed for use with most personal shavers. These include disposable razors, razors designed with replaceable cartridges and razors designed for use by both males and females.
  • Referring now to FIG. 2, the alternative embodiment of the present invention is shown. In this embodiment the body member 11 is wrapped around the shower head assembly 14 and personal shaver 19. This design eliminates the need for the self adjusting clamps 12, 13.
  • Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 4, an alternative embodiment of the present invention is shown. The body member 11 of the attachment system 10 is constructed of a rigid plastic material. Elbow joints 20 allow the body member 10 to be positioned so that the razor head 16 of the personal shaver 15 is in contact with the water flow 17 from the shower head assembly 14.
  • It is appreciated that additional advantages, modifications and equivalent embodiments will be apparent to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention, in its broader aspects, is not limited to the specific details and representative devices, shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of this invention as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.

Claims (11)

1. An attachment system for a personal shaver comprising:
a body member with a fist end capable of attaching to a shower assembly and a second end capable of attaching to a personal shaver;
a first attachment means capable of securing said first end of said body member to a shower assembly; and
a second attachment means capable of securing said second end of said body member to a personal shaver;
said body member being capable of being positioned so that a personal shaver connected to a shower assembly by said body member may be contacted with the water flow from a shower assembly.
2. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said body member is constructed of accordion retractable plastic piping.
3. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said body member is constructed of bendable plastic piping.
4. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said body member is constructed of a rigid plastic material.
5. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 4 wherein said body member further comprises at least one elbow joint so that said body member may be positioned in a plurality of configurations.
6. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said personal shaver is a disposable razor.
7. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said personal shaver is a razor with a reusable handle and replaceable razor cartridges.
8. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said first attachment means is a two prong self adjusting plastic clamp that is used to secure said first end of said body member to a shower assembly.
9. The attachment system for a personal shaver of claim 1 wherein said second attachment means is a two prong self adjusting plastic clamp that is used to secure second first end of said body member to a personal shaver.
10. An attachment system for a personal shaver comprising:
a body member constructed of accordion retractable plastic piping, said body member having a fist end capable of attaching to a shower assembly and a second end capable of attaching to a personal shaver;
a first two prong self adjusting clamp that is used to secure said first end of said body member to a shower assembly; and
a second two prong self adjusting clamp that is used to secure said second end of said body member to a personal shaver;
said body member being capable of being positioned so that a personal shaver connected to a shower assembly by said body member may be contacted with the water flow from a shower assembly.
11. An attachment system for a personal shaver comprising:
a body member constructed of bendable plastic piping, said body member having a fist end capable of attaching to a shower assembly and a second end capable of attaching to a personal shaver;
a first two prong self adjusting clamp is used to secure said first end of said body member to a shower assembly; and
a second two prong self adjusting clamp is used to secure said second end of said body member to a personal shaver;
said body member being capable of being positioned so that a personal shaver connected to a shower assembly by said body member may be contacted with the water flow from a shower assembly.
