Abstract
A lid (1) for a container, in particular a vat, for storing and/or providing and/or for transporting moisture-sensitive materials is characterized in that provided on the inside of the lid (1) is a mechanical holding device (2) which encloses a subspace which is pervious to water vapour towards the container interior and in which one or more bags filled with a particulate desiccant are placed, or which serves the purpose of directly fastening one or more bags filled with particulate desiccant.
Description
- The invention relates to a lid for a container for holding and/or providing and/or for transporting moisture-sensitive materials.
- When storing and transporting moisture-sensitive materials such as PU compositions, it is known to take account of their sensitivity to water. Consequently, in accordance with the prior art desiccants are placed in the interior of transport and storage containers, in particular vats, in a fashion separate from the PU composition. Specifically, bags filled with desiccant are attached to the inside of the lid by adhesive strips. However, this does not ensure that the bags are securely fastened, and the PU composition can become contaminated and thus debased through inadvertent detachment of the adhesive strips.
- By contrast, it was an object of the invention to provide a lid construction with the aid of which a desiccant can be kept reliably separate from the product of value in a container, in particular a vat.
- This object is achieved with the aid of a lid for a container for storing and/or providing and/or for transporting moisture-sensitive materials in that provided on the inside of the lid is a mechanical holding device. Said holding device encloses a subspace which is pervious to water vapour towards the container interior, and in which one or more bags filled with a particulate desiccant are placed, or which serves the purpose of directly fastening on the lid one or more bags filled with a particulate desiccant. Particularly suitable for the last named type of fastening are bags which have eyelets for insertion of the mechanical holding device.
- The term mechanical holding device implies that the bag or bags are fixed with the aid of mechanical forces, but not of chemical forces, for example bonding.
- The mechanical holding device is preferably formed from a metallic material.
- It is possible to design the holding device such that it is permanently connected to the inside of the lid. In the case of this design variant, the desiccant must be placed in the subspace enclosed by the mechanical holding device before completion of the permanent connection.
- The mechanical holding device can with particular advantage be detachably connected to the lid of the container, thus rendering it possible for consumed desiccants to be removed and replaced with fresh desiccant, as required.
- In particular, the detachable connection between the mechanical holding device and the lid of the container can be formed by means of a metal spring which permits the mechanical holding device to turn upwards for the purpose of filling and emptying the bags filled with particulate desiccant, and secures the mechanical holding device in a closed position.
- In a preferred design variant, the mechanical holding device is a grating box with a substantially flat base surface and side surfaces which surround the same and bear against the inside of the lid, and which separate the subspace for holding the one or more bags filled with particulate desiccant from the remaining interior of the container. The invention is not thereby restricted to the precise geometry of the grating box; all that need be considered is that the latter surrounds a subspace which permits the reliable accommodation of that volume of desiccant which ensures adequate protection against moisture for the total quantity of the product of value which can be placed in the container. In particular, the grating box can be approximately cuboid.
- In this case, the spacing between grating rods is to be such that a secure hold is guaranteed for the bags to be accommodated in the subspace.
- In a further preferred design variant, a holding device is attached to the underside of the vat lid, onto which a bag which is suitable in terms of construction can be pushed or plugged. In particular, the bag is suitable in terms of construction when, for example, it has on its seam ends eyelets made from plastic or metal which enable the holding device to be plugged on.
- As holding device, consideration is given in particular to a construction with two or more, preferably two pins, in particular metal pins, which are fastened at one end to the underside of the lid, and onto which the bag or bags can be plugged via their eyelets. After the bags have been plugged onto the pins, they are secured in a suitable way, preferably with the aid of retaining washers with a spring holding action. However, any other form of securing, for example by means of rivets or screws, is also possible.
- In a further embodiment, the holding device can be formed from a holding spring which is connected to the underside of the lid and has two free ends which can be guided through the eyelets of the bag and bent over in order to prevent the bag from falling out. However, the spring force bears the holding device against the underside of the lid.
- Silica gel can advantageously be used as particulate desiccant.
- The bags for holding the desiccant can advantageously be formed from a nonwoven.
- The inventive lid with a mechanical holding device can be used, in particular, for vats for transporting and for storing polyurethane compositions.

lid 1 inFIG. 1 has on its inside amechanical holding device 2 which is in the form of a grid box and which is secured by means of ametal spring 3. The grating box surrounds a subspace in which one or more desiccant bags (not illustrated) can be placed. - In the design variant in
FIG. 2 , abag 5, in which particulate desiccant is placed and which haseyelets 6, is pushed ontometal pins 4 which are attached to the underside of thelid 1. Thebag 5 is secured with the aid of retainingwashers 7 with a spring holding action. - In the design variant in
FIG. 3 , aholding spring 8 is provided which can be attached in its middle region to the underside of thelid 1, and has two free ends. The side view inFIG. 3A shows theholding spring 8, at whose free ends there is plugged on via eyelets abag 5 which is secured by bending back the free ends of theholding spring 8, which holding spring lies on the underside of thelid 1.

9. Lid for a container, for storing and/or providing and/or transporting moisture-sensitive materials, in which provided on the inside of the lid is a mechanical holding device which encloses a subspace which is pervious to water vapour towards the container interior and in which one or more bags filled with a particulate desiccant are placed, or which serves the purpose of directly fastening one or more bags filled with particulate desiccant, characterized in that the mechanical holding device is a metal grid with a substantially flat base surface and side surfaces which surround the same, bear against the inside of the lid and separate the subspace for holding the one or more bags filled with particulate desiccant from the remaining interior of the container.
10. Lid for a container, for storing and/or providing and/or transporting moisture-sensitive materials, in which provided on the inside of the lid is a mechanical holding device which encloses a subspace which is pervious to water vapour towards the container interior and in which one or more bags filled with a particulate desiccant are placed, or which serves the purpose of directly fastening one or more bags filled with particulate desiccant, characterized in that a bag which is filled with desiccant and has suitable eyelets at the seam ends is pushed or plugged onto the mechanical holding device and secured by means of retaining washers.
11. Lid according to claim 9 , characterized in that the bags filled with particulate desiccant are formed from a nonwoven.
12. Lid according to claims 9 , characterized in that the moisture-sensitive materials which are stored and/or transported in the container are polyurethane compositions.
13. Lid according to claim 10 , characterized in that the bags filled with particulate desiccant are formed from a nonwoven.
14. Lid according to claim 9 , characterized in that the container is a vat.
15. Lid according to claim 10 , characterized in that the container is a vat.
