Abstract

A method of playing a betting dice game with a progressive payout is disclosed. The game includes three dice and a game table with up to four wager zones for players to place a bet on. The wager zones correspond to a sum of the dice. Payout to a winning player results from the wager placed on the wager zones and the corresponding first, second and third sequential rolls of the dice.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is directed to a dice game and a method of playing a dice game.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a dice game. Specifically, the present invention is a dice game which provides a wagering method involving the successive roll of three dice three times with progressive payments of higher odds on each roll. The present invention is directed toward a table game and more particularly toward a game of chance employing dice which is intended to be played in gambling casinos, but which is also practical as a game of home entertainment.
  • Dice games are well known in the art. Two of the most well known dices games are Craps and Sic Bo. In Craps, players place multiple roll wagers on the sum of two dice, single roll wagers on the sum of the dice, and multiple roll wagers on the combination of numbers shown on the face of the dice. Craps suffers from a confusing number and type of bets. This complexity drives many would be players away from the game.
  • Another well known dice game is Sic Bo. Sic Bo is a single roll dice game in which players may wager on the sum of the dice, typically three. For example, the player may wager on the sum of twelve without regard to the combination of the dice required to add up to twelve, i.e. the player would win if the dice show 6-5-1, or 5-5-2. Alternatively or additionally, the player may wager on the combination of the dice. In the beforementioned example, the player might wager on the roll of the dice results to be 6-6-6. In Sic Bo, three dice are rolled and all wagers are immediately resolved; that is, there are no multiple roll wagers in Sic Bo. Sic Bo is an easy dice game to understand and play, however its simplicity fails to keep the player interested and large payouts can be limited.
  • One drawback of these games is that there is no opportunity to receive a progressive payout. A progressive payout is exciting for the player since it provides a higher potential for payout which entices the player to play the game with the hope of winning a large payout.
  • Other dice games in the art suffer from similar complicated game rules and wagering methods or are so simplistic so as to be unexciting to the player. What is needed is a dice game that is easy to learn and understand and at the same time is exciting and provides for high wager payouts and entertainment value to a broad range of players by use of a simple, exciting and fast moving game.
  • The advantage of the present dice game is that the player is provided with a progressive payout in a game with simple and easy rules but yet affords the excitement that keeps the player interested.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A method of playing a dice game with three dice and the possibility of progressive payouts.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1—game table layout of the present invention
  • FIG. 2—is a flowchart depicting the game flow of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • The game of the present invention will be described with respect to FIG. 1, which illustrates the preferred embodiment. A typical gaming table is used in playing the game of the present invention whereby players sit or stand at a table with a flat surface with a surface illustration that depicts the components of the game. In the present invention, a game layout 30 illustrates three rows of wager zones 100, 200, 300. The three wager zones correspond to a roll sequence of the game dice. For example, wager zone 100 would correspond to roll # 1 of the game dice. Wager zone 200 corresponds to roll #2 of the game dice and wager zone 300 corresponds to roll #3 of the game dice. Each wager zone comprises three betting fields 101 a-c, 202 a-c, 303 a-c with each betting field corresponding to the numerical sum that represents the sum of three dice. Each field illustrates a total, or a range of totals, of the dice thrown and the respective wager payout for the respective sum of the dice. Payouts may be determined by the casino. Payouts used in this example are for illustration purposes only and may be changed accordingly to comply with house rules and advantages. The three wager zones correspond to the results of three rolls or throws, in sequence, with the betting fields corresponding to the results of the roll of three dice. The fourth and fifth wager zones 150 a and 150 b correspond to betting fields, that may be the result of any one of the three rolls of the dice at any time in the game. Three rolls of the dice constitute a complete game in the present invention. The dice are conventional six sided dice, each side of each dice having indicia representing a number from one to six, inclusive.
  • Referring now to the flow diagram of FIG. 2, the initial step in playing the game of the present invention is the placing of a wager or bet by the player or players 60. As few as one player may be playing at a time or as many as can be accommodated at the gaming table.
  • The players place a wager on at least one betting field of the player's choice for each of the wager zones. A wager may be placed on the fourth or fifth wager zone, though not required. A wager may be in the form of currency or casino designated wager tokens. The casino designated dealer or designated player throws the three dice onto the playing table a first roll 62. The sum of the top face of the dice as they appear after the roll is determined. This sum is the winning number for the first roll of the dice 64. Depending on the result of the roll, the dealer collects the losing wagers 66 and pays to the winners the corresponding sum of money or representative wager tokens 68. The dealer then also collects the wagers from the second and third wager zones if the a winning result is not met on the first roll. Likewise, the dealer acknowledges players that remain by leaving their wagers on the second and third wager zones. A winning wager entitles the player to continue play in the game with his remaining wagers previously placed the second and third wager zones. The player may not be allowed to change the position of the subsequent wagers, though the present invention is not limited to this restriction.
  • This process is repeated for the second 70, 72, 74, 76 and third rolls of the dice 78, 80, 82, 86, respectively. A player may continue to play so long as he wins a current roll of the dice. If, after any roll of the dice all players have been eliminated, the game ends and a new game may begin.
  • In another embodiment, a fourth type of wager zone 150 is provided for a single roll of the dice and for the numbers three and eighteen. A higher payout is possible since the probability is lower that these numbers will be rolled. A player may place a wager on either one or both of these zones at any time and wins or loses regardless of the roll sequence. The house rules may also allow a player to place a wager on the higher payout areas without requiring to play the entire three rolls of the dice sequence.
  • In yet another embodiment, a wager placed on the fourth type of wager zone may remain there until after the third roll of the game, winning or losing depending on the outcome of the game.
  • There is no limit on the number of players betting on a game other than the practical consideration of the amount of space available at a particular table. For any one game, a player may be designated as dice thrower or shooter. The shooter may be designated by the dealer by using an in-turn procedure so that all players may have the opportunity to roll the dice in a game. The shooter rolls the dice for three successive rolls, constituting one game.
  • The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes may occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.
