Abstract
A cushion pad includes a cushion body made of flexible material such as sponge, foam, resilient fibers or resilient rubber and has a slot defined therethrough. An inclined surface is defined in a front portion of a top of the cushion body. The slot is located corresponding to the user's spine.
Description
- The present invention relates to a cushion pad for relief of pressure on the spine, especially for reducing pressure to sacrum.
- A common problem for those who sit for a long period of time is lower back pain which is caused by the pressure applied to the nerves around the lumbar vertebrace or even the deformation of the disk of cartilage. In order to reduce the pressure applied to the part of the spine, most of the people put a pad as shown
FIG. 5 on the seat portion of chairs so as to provide a cushion feature. However, after a short period of time of use, the cushion feature disappears because the cotton or foam in the pad becomes a solid block which has no flexibility at all. The traditional way to release the pressure applied to the spine obviously is not satisfied. - The present invention intends to provide a cushion pad that includes a slot which is located corresponding to the position where the sacrum of the user so that the spine bears less reaction force from the chair and spine is protected.
- The present invention relates to a cushion pad made of flexible material such as sponge, foam, resilient fibers or resilient rubber and includes a slot defined therethrough. An inclined surface is defined in a front portion of a top of the cushion body. The slot is located corresponding to the user's spine.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 1 shows the cushion body of the cushion pad of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 shows a cover is coated to the cushion body of the cushion pad of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 shows the cushion pad is put on a seat portion of a chair; -
FIG. 4 shows the user's spine is located corresponding to the slot of the cushion pad of the present invention, and -
FIG. 5 shows a conventional pad. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , the cushion pad “A” of the present invention comprises acushion body 1 made of flexible material such as sponge, foam, resilient fibers, or resilient rubber, and has aslot 11 defined therethrough. Aninclined surface 12 is defined in a front portion of a top of thecushion body 1. Theinclined surface 12 extends to the front edge of thecushion body 1. Acover 2 is coated on thecushion body 1 and is made of air-permeable material. - As shown in
FIGS. 3 and 4 , the cushion pad “A” is put on the seat portion of a chair “B” and the user sits on the cushion pad “A” with thighs contacting theinclined surface 12 of the cushion pad “A” and the spine of the user is rested in theslot 11. Theinclined surface 12 provides the user a comfortable status when sitting on the cushion pad “A”. The sacrum of the user's spine does not contact the cushion pad nor the seat portion of the chair “B” so that no reaction force is applied to the spine. Theslot 11 is a longitudinal slot and extends toward the front edge of the cushion pad “A” so that the user is allowed to adjust the position when sitting on the cushion pad “A” while the sacrum is located corresponding to theslot 11. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Claims (5)
1. A cushion pad comprising:
a cushion body made of flexible material and having a slot defined therethrough, an inclined surface defined in a front portion of a top of the cushion body.
2. The cushion pad as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the cushion body is made of sponge, foam, resilient fibers, or resilient rubber.
3. The cushion pad as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a cover is coated on the cushion body.
4. The cushion pad as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the cover is made of air-permeable material.
5. The cushion pad as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the slot is a longitudinal slot and extends toward the front portion of the cushion pad.
