Description

June 25, 1935. A. R. wElssr-'LOG DISPENSING UNIT Filed Oct. 24, 1933 Arlz ar z'chard T/Vssfloy BY .NVENTOR 60* ATToRNEv o Patented June 25, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE g 1 Claim.
This invention relates to dispensing units and has for the primary object the provision of a device especially adapted for attachment to a standard type of collapsible tubes to act as a discharge medium or nozzle therefor so that the d contents of the tube may be obtained or utilized without liability of waste.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view illustrating a dispensing unit attached to a standard type of collapsible tube and which unit is in the form of a brush. v
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view illustrating the unit.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view showing an adapter.
Referring in detail to the drawing the numeral I indicates a conventional type of collapsible tube having a screw threaded discharge neck 2 to which my invention is adaptable.
The body is indicated by the character I and is preferably constructed of rubber recessed, as shown at I I, to receive the bristles 5 and extending from the inner wall of the recess is the discharge tube I2. The body I0 is provided with a recess I3 of two diameters of different sizes. The recesses I3 and I I are separated by a wall I4 pro- 0 vided with a port I5 flared in the direction of the recess I3. An adapter I6 consists of an internally screw threaded neck I1 for attachment to the neck of the tube I and a disc-like body I8 adapted to fit within the largest diameter of the recess I3 while the smaller diameter of said recess accommodates the neck I'I. A passage I9 extends through the disc-like portion I8 and the vlatter upon one face is provided with a tapered lug 20 having the passage I9 extending therethrough. The lug 20 fits in the flared opening I5 so that the contents of the tube I may be readily directed into and through the tube I2. With the body I0 removed from the adapter I6, the latter then may be employed as a discharge medium or `nozzle to aid in directing the contents of the tube I onto a toothbrush or similar device.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor vchanges in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, as claimed.
, Having described the invention, I claim:`
A dispensing unit comprising a body, a Wall integral with the body and dividing the latter into recesses and provided with a conical-shaped opening, a fiexible tube integral with the wall about said opening and extending outwardly of the body by way of one of said recesses, bristles mounted to the body about said tube, said other recess having a restricted portion, a `iitting mounted in said last-named recess and extending outwardly of the latter by way of the restricted portion and adapted for connection to a neck of the conical-shaped opening.
