Abstract
A trash bin liner that fixes into place preventing the liner from collapsing into the trash bin. The trash bin liner includes an adhesive disposed on the exterior surface of the trash bin liner. The adhesive is configured to releasably adhere to a trash bin.
Description
- This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 60/530,066, filed Dec. 15, 2003.
- The present disclosure relates to trash bin systems, specifically to a trash liner with adhesive for fixing the trash liners to the interior of a trash bin.
- Trash cans, bins and baskets have been in use with plastic liner bags to store unwanted waste. A problem with the plastic liner bags is that the liner bags separate from the trash bin. The separation of the trash liner bag from the trash bin allows for waste material to fall between the trash liner and the trash can, thereby contaminating the trash can with waste.
- The trash bins in the prior art have attempted to solve the above problem by use of separate lids fitting over the top of the trash can and pressing the liner bag between the lid and top of the trash bin. Other prior art relies on a drawstring contiguous with the opening of the liner bag. The drawstring is cinched around the top of the trash bin to hold the liner bag in place.
- The prior art solutions fail to hold fast the liner bags due to the lids being loose and the drawstrings snapping.
- What is needed in the art is a trash liner that holds tightly to the trash bin and prevents the liner bag from slipping, allowing waste material to contaminate the inside of the trash bin.
- The disclosed device is directed toward a trash bin liner comprising a liner body having a liner sidewall. The liner sidewall defines a liner interior and a liner exterior. A releasable adhesive is disposed on the liner sidewall near the liner exterior. The trash bin liner is configured to adhere to a trash bin.
-
FIG. 1 is a partial side view of an exemplary trash bin. -
FIG. 2 is a partial perspective view of an exemplary trash liner. - Persons of ordinary skill in the art will realize that the following description of the present disclosure is illustrative only and not in any way limiting. Other embodiments of the invention will readily suggest themselves to such skilled persons having the benefit of this disclosure.
- The present disclosure describes a novel trash bin liner that fixes into place preventing the liner from collapsing into the trash bin. The trash bin liner includes an adhesive disposed on the exterior surface of the trash bin liner. The adhesive is configured to releasably adhere to a trash bin.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , a side view of an exemplary trash bin 10 is illustrated. Thetrash bin 10 includes abody 12, forming asidewall 14 and abase 16. Thesidewall 14 andbase 16 define anexterior 20 and aninterior 22. Thesidewall 14 includes aninterior wall surface 24. Thebase 16 includes aninterior base surface 26. Theinterior 22 of thetrash bin 10 is configured to contain trash. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , a partial perspective view of an exemplarytrash bin liner 30 is illustrated. Thetrash bin liner 30 includes aliner body 32 having aliner sidewall 34. Theliner sidewall 34 defines aliner interior 36 and aliner exterior 38. An adhesive 40 is disposed on theliner exterior 38 of theliner sidewall 34. The adhesive 40 can be configured to releasably adhere to theinterior wall surface 24 of thetrash bin 10. The adhesive 40 is also configured to adhere to theinterior base surface 26 in alternative embodiments. - The adhesive 40 can be disposed on the
liner exterior 38 in any pattern or shape. Such patterns include, but are not limited to, a lined pattern, a criss-cross pattern, a patched pattern, a random spatter pattern, and the like. The adhesive 40 can encircle theliner exterior 38 either completely or partially. - In an exemplary embodiment, the adhesive 40 can be disposed near an
upper portion 42 of thetrash liner 30. Thetrash liner 30 can be wrapped over anupper sidewall lip 44 so that theadhesive 40 disposed near theupper portion 42 can be adhered to anexterior portion 46 of thesidewall 14 proximate thelip 44. - The exemplary
trash bin liner 30 is configured to be inserted into theinterior 22 of thetrash bin 10. Theliner sidewall exterior 38 is pressed against theinterior wall surface 24 to adhere theadhesive 40 to theinterior wall surface 24. In alternative embodiments, the liner exterior 38 can also be adhered to theinterior base surface 26 with theadhesive 40. The exemplarytrash bin liner 30 is configured to be insertable into the interior of thetrash bin 10 and remain installed. The adhesive 40 maintains the body of thetrash bin liner 32 in place and prevents collapse of theliner 30. - The adhesive 40 is configured to release upon application of a predetermined amount of force. The force is sufficient to release the adhesive 40 before the
liner wall 34 begins to tear. - While embodiments and applications of this invention have been shown and described, it would be apparent to those skilled in the art that many more modifications than mentioned above are possible without departing from the inventive concepts herein. The invention, therefore, is not to be restricted except in the spirit of the appended claims.
