  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention [0003]
  • The present invention relates generally to roofing materials and more specifically it relates to a roof ridge cover system for efficiently constructing a durable and weatherproof roof ridge cover. [0004]
  • 2. Description of the Related Art [0005]
  • Roofing materials such as asphalt shingles have been in use for years. At the high ridges of the roof the roofer has to seal the section where the two or more sides of the roof meet to prevent precipitation from falling beneath the shingles. The conventional method of sealing a roof ridge is by simply securing a plurality of shingles in a longitudinal layered manner until the entire roof ridge is covered. [0006]
  • The main problem with conventional roof ridge sealing methods currently practiced is that they are time consuming and expensive to apply. A further problem with conventional roof ridge sealing methods is that they sometimes become weathered and worn making them prone to water leakage or complete removal from the roof ridge. [0007]
  • While these devices may be suitable for the particular purpose to which they address, they are not as suitable for efficiently constructing a durable and weatherproof roof ridge cover. Conventional roof ridge covers are susceptible to damage over extended periods of time and are not cost effective to install upon roofs. [0008]
  • In these respects, the roof ridge cover system according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art, and in so doing provides an apparatus primarily developed for the purpose of efficiently constructing a durable and weatherproof roof ridge cover. [0009]
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of roof ridge covering methods now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a new roof ridge cover system construction wherein the same can be utilized for efficiently constructing a durable and weatherproof roof ridge cover. [0010]
  • The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new roof ridge cover system that has many of the advantages of the roof ridge covering methods mentioned heretofore and many novel features that result in a new roof ridge cover system which is not anticipated, rendered obvious, suggested, or even implied by any of the prior art roof ridge sealing devices, either alone or in any combination thereof. [0011]
  • To attain this, the present invention generally comprises a base member formed to fit upon a roof ridge, a support member extending from the base member, and a cover member attached to the support member defining a first slot and a second slot on opposing sides of the support member. The base member has a substantially inverted V-shaped structure. The cover member has a substantially inverted V-shaped structure that preferably has a smaller inner angle than the base member for tapering the opposing slots. [0012]
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and that will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto. [0013]
  • In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of the description and should not be regarded as limiting. [0014]
  • A primary object of the present invention is to provide a roof ridge cover system that will overcome the shortcomings of the prior art devices. [0015]
  • A second object is to provide a roof ridge cover system for efficiently constructing a durable and weatherproof roof ridge cover. [0016]
  • Another object is to provide a roof ridge cover system that may be formed into a single solid structure. [0017]
  • An additional object is to provide a roof ridge cover system that can be easily formed and installed to various roof ridges. [0018]
  • A further object is to provide a roof ridge cover system that provides consistent moisture protection for a building roof. [0019]
  • Another object is to provide a roof ridge cover system that withstands severe weather conditions. [0020]
  • A further object is to provide a roof ridge cover system that may be color coordinated with the roof shingles. [0021]
  • Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become obvious to the reader and it is intended that these objects and advantages are within the scope of the present invention. [0022]
  • To the accomplishment of the above and related objects, this invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings, attention being called to the fact, however, that the drawings are illustrative only, and that changes may be made in the specific construction illustrated and described within the scope of the appended claims. [0023]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Various other objects, features and attendant advantages of the present invention will become fully appreciated as the same becomes better understood when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which like reference characters designate the same or similar parts throughout the several views, and wherein: [0024]
  • FIG. 1 is an upper perspective view of the present invention. [0025]
