Abstract

Can Hats were created for the purpose of covering the top portion of our can beverages while we drink. In return, it acts as a barrier, preventing our mouth from coming in contact with the can that is being used.

I'm pretty sure no one wants to put their lips on something that has passed through the hands of an undetermined number of peoples. I know I wouldn't, and for that reason I have invented Can Hats, which is a new and useful idea in the art to which it pertains.

Can Hats maybe packaged and sold in the same manner paper cups are packaged and sold.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Can Hats are covers for beverage drinks. They were specifically designed to prevent the consumer's mouth from coming in contact with the mouth portion of filthy can beverages. For example, can sodas, can beers, and can fruit drinks. With this invention, consumers would be able to take their Can Hats, place it over the top of their can beverage as a cover, and enjoy their drink without worrying so much about the dust, germs, and all the hands that have passed by the mouth portion of the can.

A Can Hat is a manufactured article which is made from coated paper, similar to a paper cup—but its shaped to conform with the top portion of a beverage can and its opening.

I myself love drinking from beverage cans, and so does many other people I know. On any given day, I might see a dozen or so people grab a can beverage, open it up, and start drinking without taking inconsideration of all the hands that have touched that can. For example, the hands that packed the can beverages on to pallets for transportation to stores, all the hands that had touched the can beverages while they were stockpiled in grocery stores to be sold. Not to mention, some had been on shelves for months, collecting dust particles and everything that comes in contact with them.

I use to think there was nothing wrong with drinking straight from a beverage can until I starting experiencing a series of colds and sore throats for doing so. At that time and still today, there is nothing on the market to solution this problem. This matter later prompted me to create my on solution, which lead to the invention of Can Hats.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Can Hats are basically designed to shield those germs, dust mites, and other unseen particles on the mouth portion of our can beverages from our mouth. The advantage of this invention is that it gives the consumer the benefit of drinking from the can without ever touching their lips against the mouth portion of the can beverage.

Can Hats will be manufactured from coated paper, similar to that of paper cups, but are shaped to conform to the top portion of a can beverage drink, including the its opening tab shape.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1A depicts The Body of the Can Hat, which is made of coated paper, similar to that of paper cups. The body of the Can Hat is hollow and shaped to conform to a standard size beverage can (10 to 12 fl.oz cans). For example, a can coke, can beer, or a can fruit drink would be sufficient to cover. An assembled Can Hat measures 8 inches at its widest diameter. The narrowest width, which is the top, measures 6 and six eighths of an inch. The height of the Can Hat is 1 and three eighths of an inch. Its shape causes it to fit snuggly on the top portion of the can beverage, covering about 1 and three eighths of an inch of the can, measuring from the top to bottom and 8 inches all around. The Body of the Can Hat prevents the bottom lip of the consumer from coming in contact with the can beverage. [0012]
FIG. 1B depicts the Rim Cap. It serves the purpose of preventing the consumer's top lip from actually touching the can while he or she is drinking from a can beverage. The Rim Cap is 6 and six eighth inches in diameter and about 3 millimeters deep. The hole in the middle of it is actually the Drink Hole, and conforms to the opening and the shape of the tab on the can beverage. [0013]
FIG. 1C is depicts the Drink Hole, which is the opening in the Rim Cap. The Drink Hole serves the purpose of letting the beverage in the can flow through the Can Hat when used. The Drink Hole is shaped to conform to the opening and the tab of the can beverage.[0014]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The process of making a Can Hat is similar to manufacturing something as simple as a paper cup, except that the Can Hat has two openings. One hole is for drinking through, and the other is for sliding over the can beverage. Moreover, Can Hats are shaped to conform to the top section of a can beverage. The top 1 and ⅜ of an inch of the can is covered, measuring from top to bottom and eight inches all around. [0015]
The Body of the Can Hat is cut from a piece of coated paper with the dimensions of 1⅜×8{fraction (2/8)} inches. The Rim Cap is cut from the same material, measuring 6{fraction (6/8)} inches in diameter. This piece of paper is then cut out in the middle to form a shape that is uniform with the can beverage open and its tab. The hole in the Rim Cap makes up the Drink Hole. [0016]
To put the Can Hat together, just simply place the Rim Cap inside the narrowest part of the Body, the top- and then fold the Body around it until {fraction (2/8)} of an inch of the Body overlaps itself. It is then compressed around the Rim and the side of the body, where it overlaps to form a sturdy Can Hat. [0017]
When put together, Can Hats are used to slide over the top portion of a can beverage drink. The purpose is to prevent the consumer's mouth from coming in contact with the can that is being used. [0018]
Now that I use Can Hats, I don't worry about getting soar throat, germs, and catching colds when I drink from the can. Well, at least I won't have to worry about putting my mouth on something that's not clean. [0019]
