1 Claim.
This invention relates to electric cords or cables, one of the objects being to hold them against displacement. For instance, they are frequently provided with connecting plugs for removably engaging receptacle fixtures; the invention being useful in preventing accidental removal of the plugs by a pull on the cords or cables. Other objects and uses may be inferred.
An example of the invention is illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l is a side view.
Figure 2 is a cross-section.
Referring to the above, an ordinary flexible rubber-covered cable l has the usual connectl5 ing plug 2 at its end. This plug is insertable in a receptacle 3. inadvertent removal of this plug results when the cable 1 is pulled, this happening quite often When the latter powers a portable device.
Elastic tubing 4 has a Wall opening 5 and an end connecting means 6. The last may be xed to the tubing in any manner. The cable 1 is arranged through this tubing by way of its end remote from the connecting means 6 and its wall opening 5, so that the length of the cable from this opening to its connecting plug 2 exceeds the length of the tubing from this opening to the means 6. A hook 7 is fixed near the receptacle 3 to provide an anchorage for the means 6. When the cable 1 is pulled the tubing 4 Will tend to 50 constrict thereabout and hold it against displacement. The tubing from the opening 5 to the means 6will stretch, so there is little danger of damaging the cable.
Although a specific form of this invention has been shown and described in accordance with the patent statutes, it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention exactly thereto, except as defined by the following claim.
We claim:
Elastic tubing having a Wall opening and an end connecting means, whereby said means may be connected to an anchorage and said tubing receiving a cord or cable by Way of its end remote from said means and its wall opening, said opening being of such size that the wall thereof will grip said cable orY cord against a pull, by constricting action of the tubing.
