This invention relates to an infants chair and. the main object of the invention is to provide a chair of the character described in which an in fant may be placed or removed with a minimum eifort.

Another object of the invention is to provide a chair of the character described which includes a combination tray and foot rest which is adjustable with respect to the chair seat in such a manner as to provide a safe enclosure for the infant and which at the same time is so constructed that the infant may be quickly removed from the chair.

A further object of the invention is to provide an infants chair of the character described which consists of few parts which are well adapted for production at comparatively low cost and which is sturdy in construction and dependable in operation.

Further and more limited objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds and by reference to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a view disclosing my chair in side elevation; Fig. 2 is a top plan view and Fig. 3 a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figs. 1 and 2.

Referring now to the drawings, the chair consists essentially of a seat rest 1 which is carried by a supporting frame and on which is mounted a seat 2 which is pivotally secured by means of a pivot pin 2 Carried by the seat 2 is a back rest 3 and an arm rest 4. The seat rest 1 is provided at one side thereof with an upstanding portion 1 to which is secured the other arm rest 5. The seat rest 1 is supported on suitable legs 6 and 7 disposed as shown.

Carried by the legs 6 and 7 and extending from front to rear of the chair are a pair of stationary grooved bars 8 which slidably receive therein bars 9 having tongues 9 which fit within the grooves in the bars 8. Carried by the bars 9 is a foot rest 10 to which are secured a plurality of vertically disposed bars 11 to the upper ends of which is secured a tray supporting member 12.

Secured in the seat rest 1 are a plurality of bearings 13 which support the weight of the seat 2 and facilitate the movement of the seat with respect to the seat rest. Carried by the seat rest 1 is a latch 1 which serves to lock the seat against movement with respect to the seat rest.

Carried by the foot rest 10 and projecting downwardly therefrom is a block 15 having a threaded bushing in the lower end thereof. Secured to bars 8 is a transverse member 16 having 2. depending portion 16 which is provided with an opening in the lower end thereof. Extending through the blocks 15 and depending portion 16 is a rod 1'7 the outer end of which is threaded and engages in the threaded bushing in the block 15. The opposite end of the rod 17 is provided with a crank 18 by means of which the rod may be turned. As 50 the foot rest 10 and tray 12 are carried by the slidable bars 9, it will be seen that by turning the crank 18, the foot rest and tray may be adjusted in and out with respect to the seat. t will also be seen that the tray 12 when in normal position projects over the arm rests and 5 and cooperates therewith to provide an enclosure so that the infant may not fall out of the chair.

When it is desired to remove the infant from the chair, the seat 2 is turned about the pivot pin 2 to the position shown in dot and dash lines in Fig. 2.

It will now be clear that I have provided an infants chair which will accomplish the objects of the invention as hereinbefore stated. It is to be understood that various changes may be made in the shape, size and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of my invention and that the embodiment of the invention herein disclosed is merely illustrative and is not to be considered in a limiting sense as the invention is limited only in accordance with the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. An infants chair comprising a base, a seat movably mounted thereon, a back rest and a pair of arm rests, the back rest and one of said arm rests being movable with said seat, a tray cooperating with said back and arm rests to provide an enclosure, and means adjustably securing said tray to the base.

2. An infants chair comprising a base, a seat movably mounted thereon, a back rest and a pair of arm rests, the back rest and one of said arm rests being movable with said seat, a tray cooperating with said back and arm rests to provide an enclosure, and means adjustably securing said tray to the base, and means for locking said seat against movement with respect to said base.

3. An infants chair comprising a base, a seat movably mounted thereon, a back rest and a pair or" arm rests, the back rest and one of said arm rests being movable with said seat, a guard carried by said base and disposed in front of said seat, a tray secured to the upper end of said guard and projecting over said seat, and means for adjusting the position of said guard and tray with respect to said seat.

An infants chair comprising a base, a seat movably mounted thereon, a back rest and a pair of arm rests, the back rest and one of said arm rests being movable with said seat, a foot rest carried by said base, a guard carried by said foot rest and extending upwardly therefrom, a tray secured to the upper end of said guard and having the rear part thereof extending over said seat in close proximity to said arm rests thereby to form an enclosure, and means for adjusting said guard and tray with respect to said seat.

An inf-ants chair comprising a base, a seat adapted to be pivotally secured thereto, a back rest and a pair of arm rests, the back rest and one of said arm rests being movable with said seat, means for pivoting said seat to the base, said means being positioned rearwardly of the transverse center line of said seat, a tray positioned in close proximity to the forward ends of said arm rests thereby to form an enclosure, and means for securing said tray to the base.

6. An infants chair comprising a base, a seat pivot-ally secured to said base, an arm rest rigidly secured to said base, a back rest and an arm rest secured to said seat, and movable therewith and a tray cooperating with said back rests and said arm rests to form an enclosure, and means for securing said tray to said base.

7. An infants chair comprising a base, a seat pivotally secured to said base, an arm rest rigidly secured to said base, a back rest and an arm rest secured to said seat, and movable therewith, and a guard carried by said base and disposed in front of said seat, a tray secured to the upper end of said guard and projecting over said seat, and means for adjusting the position of said guard and tray with respect to said seat.
