This invention relates to a device for waxing floors and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide a container for paste wax having openings in its bottom, and a pad of sheeps wool or the like attached to the lower part of the container for absorbing wax passing through the openings and applyingit to the surface as the device is moved thereover.

Another object of the invention is to so construct and arrange the parts of the device that it can be manufactured to sell at low cost, can be easily refilled with the wax and is of simple operation.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figurel is an end view of a device showing the handle in two positions.

In these views, the numeral 1 indicates an open top casing formed of any suitablematerial and the numeral 2 indicates a cover for the casing which is preferably formed of wood and has its lower part reduced to form a shoulder to whichV a flange member of leather or the like is attached by nails so as to form a tight fit between the cover and the upper part of the casing and to frictionally hold the cover in place. This skin is also formed with openings, and the walls of which surrounding the flanges 10 so that these flanges will prevent the 50 skin from covering, or partly covering the openings 8, and the flanges 10 direct the waX passing through these openings 8 into the wool, so that the wool will absorb the wax and apply the wax to the loor surface as the device-is being moved over such surface.

Thus it will be seen that it is simply necessary to remove the cover 2 and place some of the wax in the casing after which the cover is put back in place. The handle is then moved in a vertical position as shown in dotted lines in Fig. l and the device lifted and then dropped upon the floor. The resultant jar will cause some of thewaX 7 5 to pass through the openings 8 upon the pad and this jarring action can be continuedruntil the pad is saturated with suflicient wax applied thereto to reach the floor Y when' the device is moved over the same.

As will be seen the device is very simple so that it can be manufactured to sell at low cost and is very easy to operate and when the pad wears, it can be removed and a new piece of sheep skin substituted for the old one.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A waxing device comprising a casing open at its top and having holes in its bottom, a flange surrounding each hole and depending downwardly, a stripof sheep skin having the skin part attached to the bottoniv of the casing and the lower portion of the .sides of the easing, said skin having holes `therein the Walls of Vwhich t over the iianges, whereby the Wax passing through the holes in the Casing Will saturate the Wool of the skin.Y arcover formed of `ziblock of wood having its lower part reduced to' Vform a shoulder, inflexible flange fastened to the shoulder and frictionully engaging the upper portions of the Walls of the @asf ing When the cover is placed therein, and a handle connected With the casing.
