IMPROVEMENT IN EMBROIDERY-PATTERNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 191,978, dated June 12, 1877; application filed May 23, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT KOMP, of. the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Embroidery-Pattern, which invention isfully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which v Figure l represents a face view. This inventionconsists in an embroiderypattern composed of a perforated sheet of paper or cardboard, with designs' or characters, which are raised above the 'surface of the sheet, so that, by the perforations in the sheet and by the designs, a perfect guide for the stitches is obtained, and at the same time, by the elevation of the designs, the effect of the embroidery, when finished, is materially improved.
In the drawing, the letterA designates a sheet of paper or card-board, which is perforated throughoutin the manner usually practiced for embroidery-patterns. In the body of this sheet are formed designs or characters B, which are raised from the body of the sheet by embossing or otherwise, so that the full benefit of the perforations for guiding the stitches is retained, and at the same time, by the stitches which pass over the raised designs or characters, a novel and beautiful effect is imparted to the finished embroidery.
The raised designs or characters may either be plain, or they maybe colored in various ways, so ,as to indicate the colors to be .selected for the several portions of the embroidery.
My embroidery-patterns may also be mount ed in a frame of paper or other material, which may be plain or ornamental.
NVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
An embroidery-pattern composed of a perforated sheet of paper or card-board, with designs or characters which are raised above the surface o'f the body of said sheet, substan tially in the manner and for the purpose shown and described.
