Description

July 18, 1933. H. PANULLO SANITARY APPLIANCE Filed July 18. 1931 Patented July 18, 1933 HENRY PANuLLOQOFATLANTIC CITY; NEw vJERsEY 1J sAnIrAnxAPrLiancn h Application filed July 18,
This invention relates to improvements in "sanitary appliances and has particular reference to a sanitarypad holder for women" and 'a' suspensory for men. f I
The primary object of the inventionlresides in a sanitary appliance adaptedto be worn about the waist of awearer so as to securely and comfortably hold a sanitary pad in position whenthe appliance is used as a sanitary belt for women, and which will likewise support the genital sack of a'male' when worn as a suspensory; I I Another object of the invention isto provide a surgical applianceofthe above characterwhich will adapt itself to the bodyof the wearer and permit of. the natural body movement without shifting;
A further, object is the provision of a sani tary appliance wherein the suspender straps which support the pad-holder and sack from the waist encircling belt are freely. passed about the front and back of-the belt to reduce the strain upon thestraps ment of the-wearer. y C
With these and other objects in view, the invention resides in'the certain novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed outin the appended claim, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which: H Figure 1 is a perspective view of my sanitary appliance inthe form of a sanitary pad holder.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the same. 1 2
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the adjustable pad support.
Figure 4 is an enlarged vertical transverse sectional view on the lined-4 of Figure 3.
the belt are single loops 11, while disposed round. and which' strap passes around the 'men.
during body moveare do'ubl'e loops 12. Slidable througliithe loop 11 at thefrontof thebelt is afront elastic strap13 which may be either ,fiat or sides ofthe belt toward the rear of the same from where it is extended downwardly.
This strap passes through one ofthe eyes of the double loop 12. Slidable' through loop 11 at the rear of the. be1t10 is a back strap lgfthe ends of which are brought forward around the'sides of the be'lt'andpassed through the other eyes of the double' loops 12. The terminal ends of the back strap ex tend downwardly andterminate adj a-cent the 1 belt for a purpose to be presentlyidescribed.
The constructionthusfar' described is: present' in both forms of the invention thatbis when the appliance isfde'signecl as" a sanitary .7
pad holder for women and a'suspensoi'y' for In Figures lfto 'etiri'clusive, haveiillustrated the belt'and the front and back straps as being associated with a sanitary or napkin holder 15'which comprises a substan tially triangular shaped member16 of flexible water proof material. The member 16 is constructed of two thicknesses of material 17 and 1 18 as best seen in Figures 8 and 4 of the drawing, and which thicknesses are stitched .8
other to provide open spaces for the free sliding of a pair of suspended straps 21 which a are also constructed of elastic material. The center of the member 16 is stitched as at 22 to, prevent separation of the thicknesses of material and which stitching coacts with the other stitching to provide hems or passages for thefree sliding of the member 16 upon the Suspender straps 21. The straps 21 cross each other adj acentone end of themember 16 l andthe free ends of the said strapsare de'-= tach'ably connected to the terminal. ends of the front and back straps 13 and-l l respectively. The terminal ends of the frontand back straps are provided with buttons 23, while. the terminal ends of the suspender v straps are provided with button holes 24. i
Y Slidable upon the suspender straps, are tubular fabric coverings 25 which protect the skin of the body of the wearer from becoming chatted by reason of the direct contact of the elastic strap therewith.
. Fromthe form of my invention shown in Figures l to 4 inclusive, it will be seen that when the belt is applied to the waist of "a woman wearer, a sanitary pad may be placed upon the pad holder or member 16 and the said member adjusted as to properly position the pad against the body of the wearer. When the appliance is in a worn position, and it is desired to change a pad, itis onlyn'ecessary to unbutton the suspender straps at the J frontuo'r rear, and for sanitary reasons the straps, maybe entirely unbuttoned from the belt'strapsand the lower harness washed. By mounting the front and back straps in loops provided on the belts, it will be seen thatthe-front and back straps are capable of sliding around the belt whereby any strain upon the suspender strap-is greatly reduced,
and which; strain gmay be caused by the natural body movement of the wearer.-
In Figure 5 of the drawing, I have illus trated thesame type of belt as that shown in the preceeding form, but instead of providinga pad holder suspendedfrom the'belt, I
provide a sack or pouch 26 to which the lower ends of Suspender straps 27 are buttonable as at The straps 27- are crossed directly abovethe pouch 26 andare buttonable to the of the elasticity of the various straps and the loose connection between the straps and the ,belt, the appliance may be worn with comfort and with the feeling that the parts are properly supported.
While I have shown and described what I deem to be the most desirable embodiments of my invention, I wish it to be understood" that varlous changes 1n construction may be resorted to as come within the scope of the appended claim. p
Having thus described the invention, what I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters" I Patent is An appliance of the class described com-,
prising, a u aistencircling band, front and upper part ofsaidband each member forming a single loop, a pair of spaced double loop formingmembers at each-side of-the'band,
each of the last-mentioned loop-forming rear loop forming members attached to' the members providing an'upper loop and a low-erloop, a strap passing through the front singleloop forming member andthrough the upper loops of the front members of the pairs of-double loop forming members, and through the lower loops of the rear pair thereof with the ends of the strap curving downwardly, a sec'ondstrap passing through the rear single loop forming member and through the upper loops of the rear members of the two pairs of double loop forming members andtl-irough the lower loops of the front members of the two pairs of members, with the ends of thes-econd strap, curving downwardly', supporting straps having-their upperends detachably connected to the depending ends of the twofirst-mentioned straps, and a supporting member carried by the supporting straps. i I 3 f a v 3 HENRY PANULLQJ
