My device is intended for being placed over the dial of an automatic telephone. The attachment is adapted for being detachably mounted upon the dial.

The primary object of the attachment is to provide means for indicating in color the number of the telephone desired to be made prominent and other indicia brought before the user of the telephone and in this manner 10. facilitate the dialing of the number indicated and to display whatever indicia are desired to be displayed.

The invention in its preferred embodiment consists of a body element having openings disposed therethrough that are in registerable alignment with the openings disposed within a standard automatic telephone dial. Simple means are provided for attaching the body element to the dial of the automatic telephone.

The invention consists of a one-piece body element having its peripheral edge adapted for engagement with the peripheral edge of the automatic telephone dial and having a raised surface upon which delineated subjects may be printed, embossed, or otherwise.

A further object of my invention consists in providing a simple attachment for an au tomatic telephone dial that may be made to carry advertising matter, or other instructional data relating to the telephone.

A still further object of my invention consists in providing an attachment that may be detachably attached about the rim of the telephone dial and that may be utilized for prac- 40 tical, instructional, or educational purposes.

With these and incidental objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth in the appended claims, and a preferred formof embodiment of which is hereinafter shown with referenceto the drawing which accompanies and forms a part of this specification. 'VVhile the form of mechanism herein shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be understood that it is not intended to confine the inventiontothe one form of embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claims which follow. What I claim is:

1. In a device of the class described, the combination with the dial of anautomatic telephone, of a body element detachably attachable to the dial of the telephone, said body element comprising a peripheral rim provided with finger holes and a raised section disposed centrally of the-rim and having the designation of a predetermined station number marked thereon, each character of said designation having a color to distinguish it from unlike characters, and said rim having areas around the finger holes which are normally positioned over the respective characters on the dial, said areas having the same colors as the corresponding characters in said designation.

2. In a device of the class described, the combination with the dial of an automatic telephone, of a body element, said body element comprising a peripheral rim provided with finger holes and a-raised section disposed centrally of the rim and having designation of a predetermined station number marked thereon, each character of said designation having a distinguishing color and said rim having areas around the finger holes which have the same colors as the corresponding characters in said designation.
