The present invention relates to closures and, more. particularly, to stoppers or covers for bottles.
One of theobjects of the invention is to provide an elastic female element (stopper or cover) designed to en age by rotary movement with a rigid nnle element so that rotation of the female element beyond a predetermined point tends to lock the latter in position. 7

which Fig. 1 represents, in elevation, a female element formed in accordance with one constructive embodiment of the invention;

Fig. 4 is a section through the female element shown in Fig. 3;
Fig. 5 is a diagram representing the elastic deformation of a female element when moved towards closed position;

Referring to Figs. 1 to 5 of the drawings,
both cases, being, preferably, convex with relation to the top of shell (z.
Ret'errin; now to Figs. 6 to 9, there is shown the mouth of a bottle or male element 0, provided (A) with. extensions d shaped so presents a curve increasing in radius in the direction of rotation of cap a and then decreasing,and (B) with an abutment 6 limiting the rotatory movement of cap a.

The term radius as used in the claims, refers to the distance from the central vertical axis of the bottle.
What I claim is 1. In a closure, a male element having a plurality of external extensions formed thereon whose radii increase towards a maximum in a predetermined direction then decrease, said male element having abutments formed thereon adjacent the portions of said external extensions of decreasing radius, and a deformable female element having a plurality of internal extensions positioned to ride over said external extensions when said female element is rotated on the male element in the direction of increasing radius of said external extensions, said internal extensions being formed so as to be first spread apart by said external extensions and then move towards one another and engage said abutments when the points on said external extensions of maximum radius have been passed.
2. In a closure, a male element having a plurality of external extensions formed there- 00 on whose radii increase toward a maximum in a' predetermined direction and then decrease, said external extensions having a slightly helical form, said male element having abutments formed thereon adjacent the portions of said external extensions of decreasing radius, and a deformable female element having a plurality of internal extensions ositioned to ride over said external extenslon when said female element is rotated on the male element in the direction of increasing radius of said external extensions, said internal extensions being convex relatively to said external extensions when the former and the latter are in engagement, said female element being dimensioned so that said internal extensions are first spread apart by said external extensions and then move toward one another and engage said abutments when the points of said external exteno sion of maximum radius have been passed.
