Description

June 23, 1931. F. WAGNER DOUBLE SIDED WARP GOODS Filed Nov. 28, 1928 Patented June 23, 1931 UNITED STATES FRIEDRICH WAGNER, or nnssnonr B OBERFROHNA, GERMANY DOUBLE-Sinai) WARP GOODS Application filed November 28, 1928, Serial No. 322,398, and in Germany December 3, 1927.
The invention relates to a double-thickness, warp-knitted .fabric, which can be simply, rapidly and economically produced. The new fabric is knitted-on two banks with two sets of yarns, one set of yarns feeding only to one bank of needles, the other set of yarns feeding only to the other bank of needles, and the two sets of yarns being only interlocked between their courses.
For this purpose, each loop is formed of a single thread, but there I are always two loops, one of each set of yarns, lying over each other. The threads are always lapped in the same direction. One of the systems only comprises loops on one side of the fabric and the other only loops on the other side. The threads of each system only cross those of the other outside of the .needle loops, which results in a reliable securing of 2 the two fabric layers. The new fabrics have the great advantage that the thickness of the threads may be any desired. and yet a relatively thin material is made, because each loop is formed of only one thread, so that the appearance of knots does not result.
V Thedrawingsrepresent in Figures 1 and 2,
two forms of the new material in perspective and on an enlarged scale. I
The threads 2 form one of the two thread 3 systems, and the threads 4 belong to the other are shown alongside the loops 4, for the sake of clarity. But there are never several threads worked into one loop, and especially there is never a thread 2 combined with a thread 4 in one loop. The two systems 2 ersed laterally the distance between needles in successive courses. Fig. 2 shows the respective warp yarns traversed the distance of two needles in successive courses. Thus in Fig. 2 the respective yarns skip a needle in lateral traverse between courses. Both embodiments show the respective sets of warp yarns traversed in opposite direction.
I claim as my invention y A double-sided warp fabric consisting of a thread system forming loops on one side of the fabric only and running through said loops in one direction, and a second thread system forming. loops on the other side of the fabric only and running through its loops in one direction, said thread systems crossing each other only by the thread parts connecting the loops together and the loops of one thread system being arranged before the loops of the other thread system. In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature.
FRIEDRICH WAGNER.
and 4 are only connected together in thatthe threads 2 and 4 cross eachother out- 45 side of the. needle loops by those sections of thread which extend from one needle loop to another. Each system, furthermore, forms a fabric in itself, which can have any desired laying or chain. Fig. 50 1 presents the respective warp yarns trav-
