This invention relates to improvements inV toilet articles and pertains particularly to an improved soap article.

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a cloth casing for toilet soap in which the soap may be secured and Where it is to remain until used up, the purpose being to provide a cloth for washing purposes having the soap always associated therewith 1o thus making it possible to do away with the necessity of keeping a cloth to complete a washing operation after the application of the soap.

A further object of the invention is to provide a cover for a body of toiletsoap which prevents the soap from slipping from the hands and also keeps the soap covered and makes it possible to use the same completely instead of having a remaining piece to be diso carded after it has reached a size where it would be inconvenient to handle with a separate wash cloth.

The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming part of this specilication, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawing but maybe changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no maf terial departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the lappended claim. l y

` Referring more particularly to the drawing` wherein like numerals of reference indi-k cate corresponding lparts throughout the several views the numeral 1 in Figure l indicates an oval soap body showing Aapplied thereto the cloth cover embodying the present invention the same being :indicated by the `numeral 2. This cloth body is made inthe 5i form df abag being woven to conform to the shape of the particular cake of soap to which a it 1s to be applied, the intention being for the soap manufacturer to place the soap cake within the cover for distributing the same either wrapped-or unwrapped as the cakes 65 are now distributed in paper wrappers and pasteboard cartons. y

As previously stated the cover 2 is preferably woven to the proper shape to receive a particular cake of soap, one end of the cover being left open for the insertionof the soap cake after which it is stitched or otherwise suitably closed as indicated at 3. y The material ofthe cover 2 is preferably coarse and of comparatively large weave so that water can pass readily therethrough for contact with the soap body. While it is intended that the cover be formed of a suitable material whereby it will adhere closely to thevsoap cake this adherence to the cake may be increased by weaving into the cloth or otherwise lsuitably attaching to it elastic bands 4 which will surround the cake and as the same shrinks through usage keep the cloth in close contact therewith. i From thel foregoing description it will be readily seen that by encasing a body of soap as herein described the same maybecompletely used up and in addition the soap body can be as readily handled after it has reached a comparatively small size as it can be when it is large. In Figure 2 I have shownmy invention formed for application to a square or oblong bar of soap thev casing orcover here being generally indicated by the numeral `5. This cover, likethecover 2, may be supplied with elastic bands 6 to extend longitudinally thereof along each of the four side faces and across the end faces in the manner shown, this 99 cover preferably being closed along one edge as indicated at 7. From the foregoing description taken in association with the accompanying drawing itwill be readily seen that by providingsoap bodies with the covering herein described the same may be more easily handled by the user and more use can be obtained from the soap cakeV than can be done at the present time Vwhere small pieces of the cake are left after 100 it has been used foi a, certain length of time y which vpieces must be thrown away.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is In combination with a cake of soap, a covering of cloth shaped to snugly receive the cake and having the same exterior shape as the cake, and resilient contractile bands conneeted with the interior of the covering and passing around the cake for holding the covering in close contact with the cake after the cake has been reduced in size.
