Description

Patented Oct. 22, 1929 PATENT OFFICE JEFF WANDEL, OF GRANTS PASS, OREGON REFRIGERATING CONTAINER Application filed May 14,
This invention relates to a cooling device for cream, milk and the like, the general object of the invent-ion being to provide the device with inner and outer chambers, the
i outer chamber surrounding the inner chamber so that when ice is placed in the inner chamber, it will cool the fluid which is placed in the outer chamber.
Another object of the invention is to form the device with the parts integral, except the cover and to form passages in its bottom 'communicating with the chambers and having spigots at their outer ends for controlling the flow of fluid from the chambers.
rllhis invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several i views, and in which Figure 1 is a sectional view through the device.
Figure 2 is a plan view.
As shown in the drawing, the device comprises a cylindrical body l, with an annular member 2 therein. this member being formed integral with the bottom of the body and extending to a point above the top thereof. The device may be formed of pottery or the J like. The bottom of the body is formed with the two passages 3 and 4 which extend through an outer wall of the body and the inner end of the passage 3 is in communication with the chamber A formed by the body 4l and the member 2 and the passage 4 being in communication with the chamber B formed by the member 2. A spigot 5 is placed in the outer end of each passage for controlling the flow of iiuid from the chambers.
A cover 6 is formed with a raised central portion 7 which acts to close the chamber B, while its outer portion covers the chamber A.
From the foregoing it will be seen that when ice is placed in the chamber B, it will 53 chill the fluid placed in the chamber A and 1928. Serial No.' 277,649.
quantities of the fluid in chamber A may be easily drawn therefrom by opening the spigot 5 which is threaded in the outer end of the passage 3 in communication with said chamber A. The water from the molten ice 55 can be drained from the chamber B by opening the spigot which controls the passage 4.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is z- A device of the class described comprising a body having one end closed and its other end open, a tubular member extending upwardly from the bottom of the body and forming a central chamber and a surrounding chamber, a cover for the device covering both chambers and the bottom of the body having passages therein, one of which has its inner end in communication withone chamber and the other with the other chamber, spigots in the outer ends of the passages, the tubular member being formed integral with the bottom of thebody and extending to a point above the top of the body and the cover 'having a raised central portion for litting over the upper end of the tubular member.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature.
JEFF VVANDEL.
