KNOCKDOWN REFRESHMENT BOOTH.

The present invention relates to an article of furniture and more especially to improvements in knock down refreshment booths or tables, for use in drug stores, soda fountains,

lunch rooms, homes and like places, in which the seating and serving spaces are confined to very limited areas.

A primary object of the invention consists in the construction of a strong and durable l0 knock down table and seat, which is compact, inexpensive and light, and also capable of be ing easily set up or taken apart.

A further object of Athe invention comprehends the provision of readily detachable means for assembling the parts securely and rigidly together, said means beingso fashioned and positioned as not to mar or in any way detract from the pleasing appearance of the booth.

Another object consists in forming the detachable parts which go to make up the booth, in such a manner that when dismantled,rthey can be packed into a very neat and compact shape in order to be economically transported or shipped, and also for storage purposes.

Referring to the drawings, in which is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the development;

Referring to the drawings in which like numerals indicate like parts in the several views, the knock-down booth or table is composed of a rear frame or panel 10, side frames 11 and end frames 12, of such dimensions as to provide ample seatingand serving space for at least foul` people.

The rear frame 10 and the front frames 12 are preferably detachably connected to the side frames 11, by the bolts or screws 13 each of which bolts is formed with a threaded inner end 14, embedded in the side frames 12 (Figure 4) and an outer threaded end 15 which side frames 12 and extendinto complementary aligned openings 16 in the rear plate 10 and front plates 12. The threaded portion 15 of the bolt 13 is arranged to receive a sleeve nut or cap 17 that has an enlarged head 18 which fits in a counter-sunk recess 19v formed in the outer end of the opening 16 so that when the nut 17 is threadedinto tight engagement with the bolt 13, the outer face of the nut will be flush with the outer surface of the frame. In other words, the nut 17 will lie wholly within the opening 16 when the parts are secured together, so as not to mar or in any way detract from the otherwise pleasing appearance of the booth. The nuts 17 are each provided with kerfs or grooves 2O that receive a suitable tool, such as a screw driver or the like, for connecting or removing the nut from the bolt 13.

The frames are supported and spaced from the ground by the legs 21 arranged in pairs and preferably detachably connected to the rear frame 10 and front frames 12 by screws 22 which may be similar in construction to the bolts 13. The legs 21 extend below the frame and are spaced relative to each other so as not to interfere with the cleaning or sweeping of the floor beneath the tables. Each pair of legs has also associated therewith spaced cross bars or cleats 23 and 24 (Figure 2) that are detachably secured to the frame members.

Extending parallel with the side frames 11 are the seats 25 which have formed between them an interveningspace that conveniently permits the seats to be used simultaneously without annoyance to the patrons. Each of the seats 25 has preferably connected to the underside thereof depending side and end bars 26 which constitute a part of the seat. rfhe rear frame 10 has extending transversely thereof a reinforcing brace 27, the ends of which act as a support for the adjacent ends of the seats 25. rllhe seats 25 are detachably connected to the frames preferably by means of the plates 29 (Figure 5) each of which plates is formed with an annular flange 30 having `openings for receiving the screws 31 that secure the plate to the inner wall or surface of the frames. The plates are also formed with a central threaded opening 32 arranged to receive the threaded end of a bolt 33 which exprojects laterally from the ends of the tends through aligned openings 34 in the bars 26. llhe outer threaded end 35 of the bolt 33 receives a washer 36 and a thumbnut 37 which bear against the adjacent side of the bars 26 so as to securely and firmly attach the seats 25 in position.

A serving table 38 extends between and above the seats 25 and has attached thereto at its inner end the clips 39 that have depending arms 40 arranged to tit in complementary formed openings in the brackets Ll1 secured to the inner surface of the rear frame 10. The outer end of the table is supported by the leg 41 which may be detachably connected thereto and is of a pleasing and attractive design to harmonize with the booth when the parts are set up. The table 38 may, if desired, be provided with a glass or marble top of the same configuration.

The lower cross bars 2 which are connected to the legs 2l can be suitably used for supporting a series of longitudinal slats 39 on which wearing apparel such as hats or the like may be placed.

1t will be seen that by reason of the present construction, a very simple and durable refreshment booth is provided in which the parts may be readily dismantled upon the disengagement of the sleeve nuts 17 and the wing nuts 37 from their respective bolts, and this can be effected by an inexperienced person with the use of a screw driver or the like.

Moreover, when it is desirable to dismantle the table such as is the case when it is to be transported or where it is to be placed in storage, the parts may be easily and quickly knocked down into a compact form so as to occupy a comparatively small space.

As shown in Figure 1 the booth is of suficient size to conveniently accommodate and serve four people and while this is the preferred arrangement, it is to be understood that it may be varied to accommodate a smaller or larger number, as the exigency of the situation requires.

merely illustrative of a preferred embodiment, and such changes as fall within the purview of one skilled in the art maybe made without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

1. A knock-down booth having in combination a rear frame, side frames and spaced front frames, said side frame having members extending from the ends thereof and adapted to iit in complementary formed openings in said front and rear frames, detachable means secured to said members and substantially flush with the exposed surfaces of said front and rear frames, a seat extending parallel to each of the side frames, plate members secured to the inner walls of said frames, and means detachably connected to said plate members and extending through openings Vin said seats for securing the latter to the frames.

2. A knock-down booth having in combination a rear frame, side frames and spaced front frames, said side frame having members extending from the ends thereof and adapted to tit in complementary formed openings in said front and rear frames, detachable means secured to said members and substantially flush with the exposed surfaces of said front and rear frames, a seat extending parallel to each of the side frames, plate members secured to the inner walls of said frames, means detachably connected t0 said plate members and extending through openings in said seats for securing the latter to the frame, legs connected to the lower portion of said frames, cross bars secured to said legs, and article supporting members carried by said cross bars.

A knock-down refreshment table having in combination a rear frame, side frames and spaced front frames, said side frames having members projecting from the ends thereof and adapted to tit in aligned openings in said front and rear frames, means adapted to engage said members and normally lie wholly within said openings, a seat extending parallel to each of the side frames, threaded plate members secured to the inner surface of said frames, and means engaging said plates and extending through openings in said seats for detachably securing the latter to the frames.
