and indicia may be so combined in one general F structure as to provide means whereby such structure is available for use as a calendar for a predetermined period of years as indicated by numerals in year charts arranged thereupon and made a part of the calendar.
The calendar is of simple form and consists of a single shiftable card whereby the digits indicative of the days of a month may be properly located in relation to. columns at the top of which are indici'a indicative of the days of the week so that said digitswill be properly located in relation to said digits in accordance with a particular year and month as may be determined by therein and columns on the back of the card having months therein so that the'card may be shifted to place the columns with the months on the back of the cardcoincident with the columns having the proper year desired. a
WVith the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings: 7
Figure 1 is a plan view of thecalendar showing the swinging part in a down position,
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the card shifted, v
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing the swinging part upwardly disposed,
Fig. 4 is a similar view to the card shifted,
Fig. 3 showing Fig. 5 is a vertical-section taken centrally- Figure 2.
through either Figure 1 or showing the front Figure 6 is a plan view side of another embodiment of the calendar.
will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a base inent of the card 8 in fixed columns having years I respect to'the indicia indicative of the months card to which is hingedly connected a pair of folded cards 6 in spaced relation. Each card 6 is folded over upon itself and the ends are preferably pasted to flexible elements 7 which are in'turnpasted to, the hinged longitudinal dimensions of the base card 5. 1A slidable card Sis mounted in the foldable cards 6 to slide from side to sideand' a tab 9 is provided for this purpose on the edge of the card 8 and also functions as a On the base card 5 there is printed longitudinally thereof in a row the days of the Week as indicated at 10. On this card 5 below the column 10 there is provided a plurality of stop to limit the move respect to the base card.
columnsas is shown at 11 having past, present and future years printed therein.
On one side of the shiftable card 8 there is printed rows of digits indicative of the days of the week and on the other'side of theshiftf' nted indicia indicative able card 8 there is pri of the months of the year.
It will be seen that the cards 6 with the shiftable card 8 may be swung from the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2 to that shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The tab 9 is utilized as a markerh The digits on the'card 8 are arranged in of the year so that said card may be shifted to register the columns inwhich the months may be found to be continuations ofthe columns in which the desired year may be found at 11. Thus if it is desired to find what day of the week a certain day in December fell on, in say the year 187 3,. it would be necessary to first swing the cards 6to an up.
position and register the column having the month December noted therein with the column having the year 187 3 noted therein as is illustrated inFig. 3 and then the folded cards 6v may be swung down to the position shown in 11 have the calendar-month V venience of the device and-the ease with which it may be adjusted. Attention is also directedto the factthat the calendar may be used for every day purposes, it only being necessary to shift the same each month and therefore the calendar is just as handyas any besides having the ad ordinary calendar vantage of being useful in finding other useful data for which any ordinary calendar would be insuflicient;
In Figures 6 and 7 another embodiment 1 thereof in the columns formed by the digits suitable indicia indicative of months of the year-as denoted at 12. v 5 above the card 8 there 18 a row indicative oi": the days of the week as denoted at 10 while below the card 8 on the card 5 in arr; ed a year chart as incl Another year chart 14; is forn'ied on the rear of the card 5 and is supplemental to the year chart The card Shas rivet 3 eXtc therethrough which adapted to e; edges of the slits l to lim t the slidi i ment of the card o. (line use of ii embodiment of the invention will be quite apparent from a consideration oi? the first em bodiment described.
The present embodiments of the invention have been disclosed in detail merely by way of examples since in'actual practice they attainthe features of advantage enun'ierated as desirable in the statem of the invention and the above description. It is apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination rangement of parts may be resorted. to without departing from the spirit or scope oi the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing anyoi its advantages.
Having thus described my invention-what I claim as new is: r
1. A calendar 01 the class'described including folds and On the base card and aring a base card',a pair of cards hingedly engaged in spaced relation with the base card, each of said pair of cards including a pair of folds, a slidable card mounted to slide in the folds of said pair of cards.
2. A calendar of the class described including a base card, a pair of cards includhingcdly engaged in spaced relation with the base card, a slidable card mounted to slide in the folds of said'pair of cards, tab extending from one edge of the slid-able card to abutesaid pair ofcards to limit thc'movementoi the slidable card'and to provide means tormanually shifting said siidable cards, said basecard l1avin "indicia thereon indicative of the days of-the Week and columns having'tli'erein indicia indicative oil. a plurality of years, said slidable cards having mounted on one faceindicia indica tire of d ys oi. the month and onthe other face indicia indicative of the months oi the year. v
A device of the class described includ-; ing a base card, a slideway memberswingably mounted on he base card and a slid able card having thereon indicia indicative of the days of the week and indicia arranged in columns indicative of a plurality of years, said slidable card having on one face digits indicative of the days of the'month and on its other face indicia indicative of the month of the year arranged in colun'ins regletli tl lfi with the columns containing the indicia indicative of the years on the base card.
in testimony whereof I aiiiX my signature.
CLARENCE E. PALMER.
