Description

P. W. ANDERSON CRADLE Fild Jan. 3l, 1927 y ticularly t cradles adapted to be operated lmedially the .u per rail 7 of t Patented July 10, 19.28.
UNITED STATS Parana orarie CRADLE.
Application filed January 31, 1927. Serial No. 164,711.
My invention relates to cradles and parby electric power, and has for its vobject to provide a simple and inexpensive means whereby the said cradle may be operated.
Another object is to provide a cradle of the type described which shall be readily collapsible for storage or convertible for use as a crib.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the combination and arrangementv of parts hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes may be made in the precise embodiment shown, Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is alongitudinal sectional View of my invention in use as a cradle;
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a side elevation of my invention in use as a bed;
'Figure 4 is an end view of Figure 3.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, I provide a collapsible frame generally referred to by 20 comprising the end pieces 1, and side pleces 2, adapted to be releasably fastened together by means of the bolts 3, passed through the end pieces 1 and threaded into nuts 4 positioned in the side pieces 2 at each of the four corners of the frame. A basket 5 is releasably and oscillatably journaled in the said frame by means ofl the brackets 6 'removabl positioned lie end pieces 1, the saidbrac ets having journaled therein the pivot bars or lstraps 8 positioned medially the ends of the said basket 5. A motor driven shaft 9 is jurnaled on a support board 10 removably positioned on the bottom rail 11 of the said end pieces 1; cranks 12 are positioned on the ends of the said shaft 9 and connecting links 13 are pivoted to the said crank and to the said basket so that the rotation of the said shaft will oscillate the said bakct. An electric motor 14 is suitably positioned on the said support board 10 and adapted to drive the said shaft 9 by means of the pulleys 15, 16 and belt 17. Inwardly projecting brackets 18. are mounted on the inside corners of the posts 19 of the end` pieces 1, suitably to receive a bed spring 21 when the basket 5 is removed from the said frame by 'releasing the brackets 6 therefrom.
I claim:
In a rocking cradle of the class decrbed, the combination with a bed spring, of a collapsible'frame, a basket, means for oscillatably and removably mounting the basket in the said frame, brackets positioned on the inside of the said frame suitably to receive the said`bed spring when the said basket is removed from the frame; and ,means for oscillating the said basket, the said means comprising a support' board, means removably mounting the support board on said frame, a shaft journaled on .the support board, cranks positioned on the ends of the shaft, connecting links pivoted to the said cranks and the said basket, and means for rotating the said shaft.
In testimony whereof I aix my signature.
PRESTON W. ANDERSON.
