Application filed April 15, 1926. Serial No. 102,216.
This invention relates to a mop.
. It is aimed to provide a novel mop of the reservoir type in that it may carry asupply of oil or other liquid for treatment of 'the floors or the like, whichoil or liquid may be readily applied to the mop proper through manipulation of the handle or an adjacent 'part. i
The more specific ob)ects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings illustrating an operative embodiment.

Referring specifically to the drawings, designates a conventional mop head, 11 being the fabric or mopping material and 12 a rigid endless frame at the top thereof.
Said frame surrounds a rose or nozzle 13 of any appropriate form, the same being shown as provided with multitudinous perforations at 14 and as having two trunnions 30 15 rigid therewith and journaled in the said frame 12. In actual practice, it will be understood that the frame 12 is adjustable so that the same may release the trunnions 15 when desired, to permit removal and application of the rose or nozzle.
A nozzle section is provided at 16 and detachably screw threaded as at 17 to the nozzle sectlon 13. The nozzle section 16 is car ried by a reservoir 18 constituting one section of a handle generally designated 19. The lower end of the reservoir 18 is closed by a valve plate 20 pivoted at 21- to a band 22 detachably clam d about the exterior of said reservoir. iid plate or valve 20 is normally maintained in and urged to closed position by a suitable spring 23 se cured to the pivot or rod 21 and engaging the reservoir and the valve plate.
The oil or material within the reservoir 18 is adapted to be removed therefrom through the action of a piston head 24 slid ably disposed therein, the action of this head being such as to force a portion of the liquid past the Valve 20, causing the latter to open, such portion entering the nozzle 13-16 and escaping from the latter through the openally extending handle or grip portion at 30 to facilitate manipulation thereof and such A wooden or other handle 27- portion slides in an elongatedslot 31 provided in the section 19.
In use, the mop may be manipulated over 1 a floor or surface in the usual manner, the handle being capable of variation as to angle in View of the pivotal mounting thereof at the trunnion 15. When oil or'other liquid used in the treatment of floors should be applied to the material 11 of the mop, handle 30 is depressed, which accordingly depresses the rod 28' and pist-onihead or plunger 24 so that the latter forces the-desired 'quantityof material past the valve plate 20, opening the latter against the tension of spring 23. This material then enters the nozzle '1316 and escapes from the latter through the multiplicity of openings 14 and thence onto the material 11 and accordingly to the floor or surface being cleaned.
As a result of the invention, the oil or material is carried directly by the mop and the annoyance due to the oil being separate from the mop and having to be supplied thereto from a bottle or the like as at present, is overcome.
Various changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim as my invention 1. A mop having a head," a handle therefor, said handle rovided with a reservoir, a nozzle communicating with the reservoir to receive material from the reservoir, and means pivotally connecting the nozzle to the head.
2. A mop comprising a head, a. handle provided with a reservoir, a nozzle in communication with the reservoir at the lower end of the handle, and trunnions pivotally connecting the nozzle and the mop head.
3. A mop comprising a head, a handle provided with a reservoir, a nozzle in communication with the reservoir at the lower end of the handle,
' means pivotally connectmg the nozzle and the mop head, and valve 7 -means controlling the flow of material from within the nozzle, a valve head, a handle therefor a nozzle pivota-lly secured to the head, said handle having a reservoir with its outlet of material from the reservoir to the nozzle located Within the latter, spring means urgtubular section an ing said valve to closed position, and .a plunger in the reservoir operable by 'the operator counter to the said spring means to open the valve for escape of material.
6. A mop of the class described having a head, a handle, said handle having a reservoir for material to be applied to the mop head, plunger means to force material from the reservoir, including a tubular section forming part of the handle, means detachably connecting the reservoir and tubular section together, a (plunger slidable in said reservoir and. capable and provided with controlling the flowhaving a longitudinally of removal-upon detachment of the section and reservoir.

the class descrii ed having a said handle having a reservoir for material to be applied to the mop head, plunger means to force material from the reservoir, including a tubular section forming part of the handle, means detachably connecting the reservoir and tubular section together, a plunger slidable in said tubular section and reservoir, and capable of removal upon detachment of the section and reservoir, said section having an elongated slot longitudinally disposed, and said plunger having a handle extending laterally through said slot.
8. A mop of the class described having a head, a nozzle rose surrounded by the head trunnions pivoted on the latter, a reservoir having a nozzle section screw threaded to said rose section, said reservoir extending into the nozzle section, a
spring pressed valve closing said reservoir within the nozzle section, a tubular section,
'means detachably connecting said tubular sald'tubular section disposed elongated slot, a plunger operable in the reservoir to expunge an operating rod for said plunger, said rod having the handle extending laterally through said slot, and a handle for the mop fastened to the tubular section.
