UNITED `STATES Parent orrlce,
ADOLIH IP. RITTER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
SANITARY TOO'IHBRUSH RACK.
Application tiled October 8, 1923. Serial No. 667,110.
. to the accompanying drawings, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a sanitary tooth brush rack, and it is an object of this invention to provide a rack having a plurality of spaced compartments for holding individual tooth brushes free from each other and protecting the same so that they will always be sanitary and usable.
The invention ,comprises the novel structure and combinations hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out and defined in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment of this invention and in which similar reference numerals refer to similar features in the different views,
Figure 1 is a front elevational View of the tooth brush rack.
Figure 2 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view of the rack attached to a wall.
Figure 3 is a rear elevational view of the rack.
Figure 4L is an enlarged sectional view upon the line 4 4 of Figure 3.
In referring to the drawing it will be observed that the tooth brush rack comprises a sheet metal box-like structure open at one lateral margin for the insertion and removal of the brushes, and is adapted to be supported with its open face against the wall.
The brush rack comprises a body portion 1 having a lateral flange 2 extending at right angles to the body portion and end flanges 3 which also extend at right angles to the body portion and which are provided with right angled attaching extensions a having bayonet slots 5 whereby the same may be attached to suitable headed projections 6 upon a wall with the open face of the rack directed toward the wall. Concave ledges 7 are secured to the body portion 1 and the' lateral flange 2 in proper spaced relation to form tooth brush holding compartments. In
the present instance, these ledges have flanges 8 which are welded or soldered to the body portion and the inner ends thereof adjacent the flange 2 are soldered or welded thereto. The free edges of the ledges are slightly bent downwardly to form strengthening corrugations as indicated at 9 and the free margins are folded over as indicated at 1() to further strengthen the ledges and provide a finish. The folded edges of these 9 ledges are flush with fthe lateral flange 2 and the extensions 4 in order that the rack may lit smoothly against the wall. The brush compartment formed by the lower ledge is shortened by means of a lug 11 (Fig. 8) rising from the ledge and is adapted for cens taining a childs tooth brush.
In use, the rack is attached to a pair of screws or the like upon a wall by means of the bayonet slots so that the brush holding compartments will be enclosed except at one side which is shown at 12 in Figure 4. The brushes are adapted to be inserted and removed from the rack through the open side or edge.
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that a novel form of tooth brush rack has been provided which is enclosed except upon one lateral edge and which will consequently protect the brushes and preserve the same so that they will always be sanitary. The rack may be made of sheet metal, glass or any other suitable material. If desired, the outer or front faces of the rack may have advertising matter stamped or otherwise placed thereon so that the racks may be used as advertising mediums.
I am aware that many changes may be made and numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention:
1. A tooth brush rack comprising a sheet metal member having a body portion with a right angled lateral flange and right angled end flanges having attaching means, and concave brush supporting ledges secured to said body portion and lateral flange in spaced relation to each other, one side of said rack being open for access to the interior thereof.
2. A tooth brush rack comprising a sheet metal member having a body portion, a latmay be attached upon a Wall, one side of eral flange and end flanges, said end flanges said rack being open for access to the intehaving right angled attaching extensions, rior thereof.
brush supporting ledges secured, in spaced In testimony whereof I have hereunto sub- 5 relation, to said body portion and lateral scribed my name.
