Description

Patented Feb. 1.0, 1925'.
ANASTAZA KOSZYCZAREK, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
LUBRIGATING COMIPOSITION FO'R INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINES.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, ANASTAZA KOSZY- GZAREK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Guyahog-a and State ofOhio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Lubricating Composition for Internal-Combustion Engines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in a lubricating composition for internal combustion engines, the general object being to provide a lubricating mixture, which Will under the varying conditions arising in an internal combustion engine operating an automobile have the power to maintain an unbroken film for long periods of use, and not leave, in evaporating, any residue or cause objectionable carbonization of the oil due to the high temperature of. the Walls and presence of flame in the engine.
The composition consists of a preponderating amount of pure mineral lubricating oil derived from crude petroleum by fractional distillation, a small amount of oil or spirits of turpentine, and a lesser amount of a vegctable, non-drying oil. The mineral lubrieating oil maybe any one of the series of 111- bricating oils derived from crude petroleum by distillation or other refining processes. preferably a medium mineral lubricating oil having a flash point of 325 to 350 F., a. fire oint of 370 to 390 F., and a viscosity of 2 5 to 310 seconds at F. (Sayboldt) Application filed January 14, 1924. Serial 11'0. 686,203.
The vegetable non-drying oil .is preferably olive oil of a pure grade adapted to be heated to a high temperature without undergoing chemical change or conversion into hydrocarbons when mixed wit-h mineral lubricating oil, and a terpene product. A miscible composition made according. to my invention, may consist of fifty to sixty parts of lubricating oil, two to four parts of turpentine. and one to two parts of olive oil. A preferred mixture consists of seven gallons of medium lubricating oil, one quart of refined spirits of turpentine, and one pint of pure olive oil. This specific composition 1 gives highly satisfactory results as a noncarbonizing lubricant for automobile engines, that is to say, it has been demonstrated that this mixture provides an excellent lubricant for, an internal combustion engine Without forming carbon deposits in the cylinders.
\Vhat I desire to claim, is: A lubricating composition for internal combustion engines comprising approximately fifty to sixty parts of'a medium lubricating oil, approximately two to four parts of oil of turpentine, and approximately one to two parts of olive oil. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two-witnesses.
ANASTAZA KOSZYCZAREK.
