Description

Patented Nov. 18, 1924.
PATENT OFFICE.
ALFONSO IVIICELI, 0F VIASI-IINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
SHOE ATTACHMENT.
Application filed November To all whom it ma concern:
Be it known t at I, AmoNso MICELI, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at WVashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shoe Attachments, or" which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an attachment for a shoe or boot, the general object of the invention being to provide a resilient support to absorb shocks resulting from the foot striking the ground.
Another object of the invention is to provide means whereby the device can be easily and quickly attached to a shoe and removed therefrom.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a View of the shoe showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through the device.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken through a slightly modified form of the invention.
In these views, the shoe is shown at A and the device at B. This device comprises an upper plate 1 and a lower plate 2. The plates are each provided with concavities arranged in equi-distantly spaced relation and in the manner whereby the concavities of'the upper plate cooperate with the top of the lower plate in receiving spherical connecting pieces 3 which may be formed of any Serial No. 674,729.
kind of resilient material, such as rubber or rubber composition, and these pieces may be of either hollow or solid construction. These pieces may also be formed of inflatable members, as shown at 3 in Figure 4. r
A suitable covering, shown at 4, is fastened to the upper and lower plates to prevent the entrance of dirt and dust, this covering being formed of flexible material. A toe piece 5 and a heel piece 6 are connected with the upper plate and a strap 7 is also connected to said upper plate for fastening the device to the foot.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that this device will act as a shock absorber for the foot and will yieldingly support the body while resting upon the ground. It is particularly designed for invalids, though it will, of course, be understood that it can be used by anybody.
It is thought from the foregoin description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A shoe attachment of the character described comprising upper and lower plates, a covering secured to the outer edges of the plates and disposing them in spaced superposed relation, said plates being provided with spaced concavities arranged in equidistantly spaced relation and in a manner whereby the concavities of the upper plate cooperate with and are disposed directly below the top of the upper plate and a spherical connecting piece arranged in each of the cooperating concavities as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ALFONSO MICELI.
