LIGHTING FIXTURE.

Be it known that I, EDWIN F. Guru, a citizen of the United States of America, residingat the city of St. Louis, State of lllissouri, United States of America, have invented a certain new and useful Lighting F ixture, of which the following is such a fulL clear, and exact description as will en-- able anyone Skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

My invention relates to a lighting fixture particularly adapted for use in banking rooms and similar places where in addition to the general illumination of the room good light is required upon counters and desksand it is the object of the invention to provide a convenient and .efiicient fixture for performing both of these functions.

In the accompanying drawings which illustrate one embodiment of my invention Figure 1 is a vertical cross section, Figure 2 an end elevation; and Figure 3 a longitudinal section along the line 33 of Figure 1.

1 represents a container and support for the lamps which is preferably of sheet metal and may be attached to the wall or counter frame work by means of screws 2. The upwardly directed light affords general and indirect'illumination to the room, and thus localized light and general illumination are both supplied by each fixture and the light rays are efiiciently handled in that the means for decreasing the amount of retain each of downwardly directed light serves to increase upwardly directed light.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let tors Patent of-the United States is:

1. A lighting fixture comprising a light source; a horizontally disposed container with opaque] side walls and a translucent upper and a translucent lower portion; a pairof longitudinally disposed reflectors, onead iustablysecured in advance of the light source and the other adjustably. secured he foo reflectors having independent means for retaining it in any desired position, substan' stantially as shown and described.

2. A lighting fixture comprising-a light source; a horizontally 1 disposed container with a translucent upper and translucent lower portion; a pair of companion reflecting members disposed longitudinally one on each side of the light source and adapted for conjoint operation in determining the amount of light to be directed in the upward and downward planes, said refiectingmembers each being mounted for pivotal movement; each of saidreflecting members having independent means to retain it in any desired and relative position, substantially as shown and described. 3. A lighting fixture comprisin source; a horizontally disposed with upper and lower translucent longitudinally positioned one on each side of the light source with independent means to the said reflecting members in any desired position, said means operating for controlling each refiectorindependently, substantially as shown and described.
