Be it known that I, NAsTlxsios TonR'rAs, a subject of the of Greece, and a resi- Cook County, and State of illinois, have invented certa-in new and use-l ful lmprovements in Dancing-Doll Toys, of which the following is declared to be a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to dancing doll toys and its principal object is to provide a toy which is interesting, entertaining and attractive. Another object is to provide a toy which embodies an articulated figure similating a human being, with means for actuating the toy in amanner simulating more nearly the dancing steps and poses of human beings while dancing. The invention consists kin atoy, embodying an articulated figure similating a human being mounted on a post or standard, and provided with a flexible connection which is taken hold of and given a series of jerks to impart the movements to the toy figure.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which and partly in central, vertical section ,ofa dancing doll toy embodying a simple form of the presentinvention; Fig. 2 is a horizont-al section taken on line 2 2 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 is a fragmental, detail side elevation of a rcertain guide member for the doll support-ing post or standard.

Referring to said drawing, the reference character 5 designates a box or base having a door 6 hinged to its open front by hinges 7 and provided with a latch 8 whereby it may be secured in closed position. In the top 9 and bottom 10 of the boX is secured a vertically extending guide member 11 which extends between said top and bottom and for convenience in construction, is let into recesses or depressions formed in the opposing faces of said top and bottom 9, 10. The cord 14 is taken hold of and given a series of jerks, and to obtain the best results, similating a person, in the act of dancing, the jerks are made in time to music. In the drawing, the doll is shown in full lines in a position in which its feet are free from the top of the box, as though in the act of jumping or hopping, and in vdotted lines, it is shown in a position with its legs crossed, resting on the top of the boX, as though making a bow. By properly manipulating the cord, the feet may be made to dance on the top of" the box, and because of the flexible connection. with the post and its unrestricted movement in the tube, the doll may be moved up and down as desired, and as the post is free to rotate back and forth in the tube, the doll is free to turn and does turn the post 17 and the toy A vertical back and forth when the cord is manipulated. The top of the box acts as a platform for the doll to dance on.

l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

l. A toy comprising a base having a platform, a tubular guide member extending down from said platform, and lhzwing an outlet opening in its side, a doll figure, a reciprocal and revoluble post supporting said doll figure and extending into said tubular guide member, and a flexible connection secured to said post and extending out through said outlet opening in the guide member, said flexible connection forming means whereby said post and doll ligure may be manipulated.

2. A toy comprising a base having a platform, a tubular guide member, extending down from said platform, and having an outlet opening in its side, an articulated doll figure, a reciprocal and revoluble post supporting said doll ligure, and extending into said tubular guide member, and a cord secured to said post and extending upward from its place of connection with said post,

and out through said outlet openino, and

furnishing means whereby said post and doll figure may be manipulated.

3. A toy comprising a base 'having a platform, a tubular guide member, extending down from said platform, and having an outlet opening in its side, a wire loop se cured to said guide member at said outlet opening, an articulated doll figure, a reciprocal and revoluble post supporting said doll figure, and extending into said tubular guide member, and a cord secured to said post and extending upward from its place of connection with said post, and out through said outlet opening, and loop and furnishing means whereby said post and doll ligure may be manipulated.

4. A toy comprising a box, the top of which acts as a platform, a tubular guide member extending down from said platform, and having an outlet opening in its side, a doll figure, a reciprocal and revoluble post supporting said doll figure, and extending linto said tubular guide member, and a flexible connection secured to said post and extending outl through said outlet opening in the guide member, said flexible connection' forming means whereby said post and doll ligure may be manipulated.

5. A toy comprising a box, the top of which acts as a platform, said box having a door cpening in its side and a door closing said opening, a 'tubular guide member extending down from said platform, and having an outlet opening in its side. a doll figure, a reciprocal and revoluble post supporting said doll ligure and extending into said tubular guide member, and a flexible connection secured to said post and extending out through said outlet opening in the guide member, said flexible connection forming means whereby `said post and doll figure may be manipulated.

6. A to); comprising a box, the top of which acts as a platform, said box having a door opening` in its side and a door clcsl ing said opening, said door having a slot formed therein` a tubular guide member ex tending-'down from said platform, and having an outlet in its side, a `doll ligure, a re` ciprocal and revoluble post support-ing said doll figure and extending into said tubular guide member. and a flexible connection secured to said post and extending out through said outlet opening in the guide member, and slot in the door, said `flexible connection forming means whereby sai-d post and doll figure may be manipulated.
