SHUTTER nrrLroABLE TO ALL KINDS or FOLDING noons.
7 Application filed July 26,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that L'HANUEL Bnnros Y LAvnum, a subject of the King of Spain, residing at No. 22 Gallo Street, S antiago, Cuba, have invented a new and useful Shutter Applicable toill Kinds of Folding Doors, of which the following is a specificathat the shutter is rolled up on being taken off, and without the disadvantage, as ithappens'with the shutters now. in use, thatbeing' of a separable body, they have to be placed aside after they have been used, an
7 operation which is quite troublesome.
7 and the bushing been folded.
Otheradvantages andpurposes of the invention will be understood 1n the course of this description, the illustrative drawings of 7 which represent "Fig. l is a general view of the door show ing the shutter in a halt closed position.
Fig. 2 is a view of the shutter already rolled on its reel and of the door in position to be folded after the tracks, their annexes, guide and safety bar have Fig. ,3 is a view of the shutter closed'at its outer face.
Fig. 4 is ageneral view of the drum of.
V the shutters reel.
Fig. 5 is a sectionthrough A-B of the previous figure.
Fig. dis a detail view of the universal joint] Y j 7 is a side vieivot the same.
' Fig. 8 is a section through (1-4,), of F in 7.
In the drawings, 2 indicates a shutter the constitution ofwhich is the ointe d or rolled system which is the subject matter ofmv' application of the 26th of July, 1920. Serial No. 399.157,1 as this system is preferably used in this case. The shutter 2' is rolled up at its iipper part on the reel l plziC'ed 7 between the tu' o drums 15. These drums are formedby the hollow cylinders 19 intheir interior 1'8, as'shownin Fig; 5, and rotate around the axlebox 32 Whichfits in the axle 3' of the .door 20. The drums 15 complete a one piece casting or stamped iron, the

.cases of sockets of the rollers 86 which co11- tain the friction rollers 35', Which are kept i in position by means of the Washer 34.
Theaxle box 82 is secured to the nut-'37 screw threaded at itsend. I I
As arrangements substantially the same as those of ordinary doors, I here illustrate the drums of the door '16, the supporting means 14 of the axle of the door and through '17, the-tracks of that door.
The shutter is limited to the section inv starting from line 25. V r in 13, are shownbraces which are rolled up in the reel, 15, from which braces hang dicated in 2 which covers the door-hole l, 7
the shutterwhich is also rolled in saidreel, as shown at 1, Fig. 2. At the doorsilland l overits threshold is arranged the guiding bar 10, supported by bracket 11. Y M
This bar is provided at 9wvith aset of uni versal joints from Which are connected the, U-shaped section tracks 6 situated in an in verse position, as indicated in 8.- Of the U track which has the larger flange 26,
. engaging the edge of the door-hole 4: Which must cover the shutter 20 like a frame, While the other adjacent U, 27,:serves as a guide for the shutter. h
The set of universal joints9, hinges'at 28 with the track, and in turn joins at 29 the sliding standard or pedestal along thejguich ing bar 10. V l
A plate 31 closes the'track double Uxof the double guide at each side of the door.
hole and at that plate in 38 arej'ointed the strengthening or safety bars '5, the'joint of which only permits the side rotatio'nk or, movement of said bars. These bars are placed parallel to'the tracks'fi and are trans- "verselv secured to the latterby meansof the latches '7, and are rigidly maintained clamped to the door by means of the pins 8 and enter by a strong frictionunder the bridges 3 at the height ol' the top piece of the shutter,
At 12 are indicated somepieces to support the tracks and safety bars on being folded. The operation necessarv to open and close thisshutter is rapid and simple,
Once they are rollednp in the position shownin Fig. 2,-th'at' is to say, when'the door is in the lovver'pos tion, 1t W llbe sufiicle'nt to take out tracks 6,' causing the same to rotate on the setbfjoints 9,'and insert r ing-them through U 26 in the edges of the r hole 4.; .thenthe stra bars5 are raisedandr arranged around the joint 38fand saidbars are secured and are passed under the bridges 3 and the latches and clamps 7 and 8 are properly adjusted. Then the shutter 2 hanging from the folding braces 1.3 is pulled and slides until it is placed between the tracks 27.
\Vhenever it is desired to raise the shutter, said shutter is pushed upwards, said impulse being accompanied by a hook or a similar device, and as'soon as it is rolled up the latches and clamps are disconnected from the safety bars and the tracks, the former sliding out the bridges 3 and rotating laterally; then the frame tracks are taken out of the edges of the door-hole and rotate in a facing position around the universal joint set 9, carrying along with its, the plate 31 which carries the bars 5, folding both the tracks and bars in the position indicated in Fig. 2.
It is evident that slight modifications can be made in everything that has been set forth, provided no alteration is made in the fundamental object of the invention, as stated below WhatI claim is 1. In flexible doors, the combination of a large flexible door having an opening therein, and a flexible door slidably engaged in said opening.
