Application filed March 23,
To (27? 'HZIOHL it may concern."
lie it known that l, VERONICA HMENIA, a citizen of (Zecho-Slovakia, residing at Klein. in the County of Musselshell and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Rubber 'lhiinbles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to elastic thiinbles, and is especially designed for use in protecting the finger from the action of crocheting needles.
The principal object of the present inven tion is to provide an elastic thimble having a flexible tip and which is reinforced at the side thereof where the point ofa crocheting needle is mostliable to contact with the fin ger of the operator, so that the usual soreness of the finger following Crocheting will be prevented and which will not interfere with the facile manipulation of the thread.
Furthermore, thepresent invention aims to provide improved means for removing the resilient thimble, and also to provide means for -ventilating the interior of the elastic thimble.
For the purpose of illustrating this in vention, there is shown in the accompanying drawings one form thereof which is at present preferred. since the same has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which the invention consists can be variously arranged preferably constructed of rubber or the like is designated A and has formed on the rear portion thereof a projection in the form of a teat B for use in removing the thimble from the finger. Between the projection B and the terminal edge of the thimble is a series Specification of Letters Eetent.

of ventilating openings C, so positioned that all danger of the needle point entering one of them is prevented.
Referring particularly to Fig. :2 of the drawing as illustrated the tip of the thimble A is constructed of very thin rubber as designated by l) while the sides E are formed of considerably thicker rubber, said thimble being provided at its open end with a reinforcing head F. The purpose of these two thicknesses f rubber is that the point of the crochefing needle engages the side portion of the finger, and consequently it is necessary to reinforce the thimble at that point and it the inner portion of the finger and with the 1 projection B on the top or outside portion of the finger. During the operation of crocheting the point of the Crocheting needle will contact with the reinforced portion of the thimble. and consequently possible soreness of the finger will be prevented.
FY0111 the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the invention may be had, but while I have shown and described the thimble as embod ing a specific structure, I
desire it to be un erstood that such changes may be made in said structure, as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
-A rubber crochet thimble having a thin flexible tip and thickened side walls with a laterally extending handle on the outer face of one of said side walls intermediate the ends thereof to facilitate removal of the thimble from the finger.
In testimony whereof, I ahix my signature hereto.
Mas. VERONICA HMENIA.
