" v, C ATAMENIAL BANDAGE,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it knownthat I,'FRANK G. HIGGINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county 'of Spokane and ,State ofWashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Catamenial Bandages, of which the following is a specification. I
Thepresent invention relates to improvements in catamenial bandages, and is designed to provide a comfortable and sam- 'tary device of this character that may read ily-be adjusted to fit the body of the wearer, and may with facility be changed asnecessity requires. To this end the invention, in
its physical embodiment, comprises a band-' age made preferably from moisture proof fabric and supported from a waist belt, and combined with straps and tapes that permit of the required adjustability and arranged so that the bandage carrying the napkin may with facility be detached or unfastened when required, and then quickly and conveniently attached again for use.
In the accompanying drawings one complete example of the physical embodiment of the invention is illustrated according to the best mode so far devised for the practical application of the principles of the invention, and which embodiment has proven highly successful in actual practice.
Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of the same device.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged, plan view of the under side of the bandage and the attaching pad, the two tabs to which the napkin is to be attached being shown in dotted lines.
In the ,preferred form of the invention as rower extension 4 curved to proper shape,
and the two tapes or tabs'5 and 6 shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3 areprovi'ded to which the'napkin is to be'attached, as by safety Specification of Letters Patent. 1
' An abdominal'padorsupport 7 isutil zed, and this pad forming the front por non of the catamenial device is detachably connected with the bandageby a series of elastic straps indicated as 8 (there bein three shown) which are preferably 'forme tons 10 sewed to the pad. The elasticity of these three connecting straps of course per- Patented June 8, 1920. App i tion'filed Apri1 22, 191a. Serial. A front strap 11 and a rear strap 12 are arranged at each hip and they join the belt atdiametrical opposite points, in pairs. bandage or pad is made through one of the reinforcing tabs 6 or 7 sewed to the bandage or pad as the case may be, it being preferable, however, that loops as 14 be utilized in making the direct connection between the parts, to lend flexibility and adaptability t the device.
To the sides'of the rear portion 3 of the bandage are attached the thigh straps 15, which, like the hip straps, are of elastic ma- ,terial, and these straps pass around the thighs and are attached to the pad 7 at the front, buckles 13 and loops 14 also being used as in the case with the hip straps.
From the above description taken in connection with the drawings it is apparent that a comfortable, convenient and sanitary device is provided that may be manipulated with facility, and it will especially be noted that there is an absence of'devices, buckles or fastenings, usually found in connection with these bandages and shoved upunder the corsets. The arrangement of the parts allows for a wide adjustability thereof in adapting the device for varying figures, and portion provided with a forwardly. projectthe easy-attachment and detachment of the ing reduced portion having the rear'portion parts renders the device of enhanced value.
