To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, HARRY W. DENHARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of'San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric Attachment-Plugs, 'of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact descripthe parts be rugged be firmly. held in position, and that all strain be relieved from the point of attachment of the. electrical conductors to the contacts of the plug.
One of the objects ,of .the present'invention is to provide an improved and simpli-- fied construttion of electric attachment plug.
Another object is to provide an improved plug made of a minimum number of simple parts.
A further object is to provide a simple plug having improved means for removing strain from the plug contacts.

In these drawings, I'have illustrated an attachment plug formed in two parts, 1 and 2, which are substantially identical in conformation. These parts 1 and 2 are preferably formed of insulating material and inclose between them the contact clips. These base members are inclosed in an outer metallic casing 3 having a swivel cap 4 extending through an opening 5 in one. of the the base members.

The conductors 6 are led into the swivel cap a through a helically coiled spring 7, as described in my copending application Serial No. 605,344, filed January 30th, 1911. The two base members 1 and 2 are secured with in the casing 3 by a suitable bolt or screw 8.
The base members 1 and 2 are preferably provided with a recessed inner surface 9 separated by septums 1t) and provided with a plurality of spaced inwardly extending studs 11 at the back of the same. The loottom of the recess 9 around the studs 11 is slightly dished out as shown in Fig. i. The septum 10 on each base member is preferably provided with an enlarged substantially rectangular shaped inner end 12, through which the bolt or screw 8 extends, and an elongated rounded outer portion connected to the rectangular portion by a reduced neck 13, v The conductors 6 are preferably brought in as shown in Fig. 3 and wound around the studs 11, the conductors being passed on one side of one stud andthen around under that stud and over the other stud where they areconnect ed to contact members 14.

It should be understood that the construction shown. is for purposes of illustration only and that other structures may be devised which embody the invention and which come within the spirit and scope ofthe appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In an electric attachment plug, a twoart insulating base having recessed adj acent aces, spaced studs about which the line conductors may be wound, and a plurality of recesses separated by septums arranged to receive the contact members.
2. In an electric attachment plug, a twopart base having its abutting faces recessed and provided with a plurality'of registering studs, septums extendin substantially at right angles to a line joining saidstuds, and contact clips carried between said parts and on opposite sides of said septums.
3. An electric attachment plug provided with an insulatingbase made in two parts having the adjacent surfaces {thereof pro vided with cooperating recesses, contact clips arranged in said recesses, saidrecesses and clips being shaped so that said clips are held in position without the use of fastening means, and studs within the recess of one of said parts cooperating with studs in the recess of the other part to form means about which electrical conductors may be wound for relieving the stress at the point of attachment of the conductors tothe con tact clips.

'a plurality of studs in said recess and a septum extending substantially at a right angle to the line joining said studs, and contact clips carried between said parts on opposite sides of said septum. t
7. In an electric attachment plug, a twopart base having recessed adjacent faces and provided with a plurality of spaced studs at one end and a-septum .atthe other,
conductors wound about said studs, and con tact clips fittingv in irregularly-shaped recesses on the opposite sides of said septum and connected to said conductors. v
8. In an electric attachment plug, a base and a plurality of resilient contact clips lying in correspondingly-shaped recesses in said base, each clip comprisinga doubled over strip of metal bent to insure positive engagement with the walls of said recess and having its ends spread apart to receive the plug contact. y
