Be it known that l, HERBERT B. Nrorrors,

t a citizen of the United States, and a resident liti of the borough of Manhattan of the cit of New York, county and State of New ork, have invented certain new and useful llmprovements in Nasal Douches, of, which vthe following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part hereof.

The invention seeks to douche adapted to cleanse the nasal passages more eHectually than has been possible heretofore with nasal douches now in use.

llt consists of the construction hereinafter set forth.

Tn the accompanying drawing forming part of thisI specification, the invention is shown in its preferred form.

Referring now to the drawing, 1 is an ordinary douche bag from-which leads a rubber tube 2 attached to the lower end of the glass tube 3. a is a nozzle adapted to be inserted in the'left nostril. The. nozzle l' is connected with the upper end of a short length of rubber tubing 5, the lower end of which is connected with the upper end of the glass tube 3. 6 is a well known form of valve clamp by means of which the tube 2 may be closed and opened. Tubes 2, 3 and 5 and the nozzle l constitute an inlet tube for the injection of the cleansing liquid, generally water, into the nasal passages through the left nostril. Associated with the inlet tube is an outlet tuberdesigned to be simultaneously connected with the right nostril. v'

As shown in the drawing, the outlet tube consists of a section of rubber tubing 7 connected tothe lower 'end of a glass tube 8 which, in turn, is connected wiith the nozzle 9 through the intermediation of the short section of rubber tubing 10. -The cleansing liquid injected into-the left nostril passes out through the right nostril and thence through the outlet tube, carrying with it mucus and other'foreign matter. The outlet tube acts in the manner of the longleg of a siphon, creating a suction within the nasal passages thereby more e'ectually` cleansing them than has heretofore been possible with a mere injection appliance such as has comprised nasal douches in gen, eral use. The outlet tube not only createsl a suction within the outer" nasal passages through which the cleansing liquid passes provide a nasalk but also acts upon the sinuses connecting with the inner nasal passages and withdraws from them -mucus and other foreign 'matter upon which an ordinary injection douche has little or no eHect.

ln the preferred arrangement, the inlet and outlet tubes are united by a connecting member 11 having a handle 12. As shown in the drawing, the connecting member consists of a block of suitable material bored to receive the glass tubes 3 and 8. The leXible sections 5 and 10 enable the nozzles 4 and 9 to be adjusted relatively to suit varying conditions.

What T claim is:

1. A nasal douche comprising an inlet tube and a separate suction outlet tube, said tubes bein adapted to be operatively connected wit both nostrils simultaneously.

2. A nasal douche comprising separate inlet and outlet tubes adapted to be operatively connected with both nostrils simulta ne'ously, and a member connecting the tubes together near their upper ends, said tubes havinlexible portions above 'said member.

3. nasal douche comprising separate inlet and outlet tubes adapted to be operatively connected with bothl nostrils simultaneously, and a member connecting the .tubes together near their upper ends, said tubes having Hexible portions above and below said member.

4f. A nasal douche comprising an inlet tube and a separate Siphon-acting outlet tube, said tubes being adapted to be operatively connected with both nostrils simultaneously.
