JOHN lVI. KEIL, OF BOONTON, NEW JERSEY.
GREASER.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, JOHN M. KEIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boonton, in the county of Morris, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Greasers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements `in greasers and particularly to greasers for use in connection with frying pans or griddles.
One object of the invention is to provide a novel and simple device of this character in which the greasing cloth is held firmly in position to apply the grease to the hot surface and in which the said greasing cloth will be effectively squeezed to force the grease to 'the protrudingsurface thereof.
Another object is to provide a simple device of this character which can be readily taken apart for refilling or cleaning.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved greaser, Fig. 2 is a top plan View, F ig. 3 is a bottom plan View, and Fig. 4L is an enlarged section on the line 1 -4 of Fig. 2.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, l0 represents a casing which is open at the top and bottom and has detachably secured around the lower end thereof a band 11. This band has a plurality of inwardly pressed projections 12 which snap into recesses 13 in the casing. Stretched across the band, below the lower edge of the casing are a plurality of crossed wires 14. Disposed within the casing, and resting on the wires, is a piece of absorbent material 14 such as wool, felt or the like which is adapted to be soaked with grease, as will be readily understood. At one side v Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led July 28, 1915.
of the top of the frame there is mounted a bracket 15 on which is pivotally mounted One end of a lever 16. On the casing, at a point diametrically opposite to the bracket 15 and slightly below the upper end of the casing is an outwardly extending arm 17. Connected at its opposite ends respectively to this arm and to the lever 16 is a coil spring 18. Disposed in the casing above the absorbent material is a plunger head 19 which is pivotally connected to the lever 16 by means of a link 20. rIhe spring 18 normally presses the lever down so that the follower or plunger head will be pressed firmly against the upper side of the absorbent material so as to produce a squeezing action between said plunger and the cross wires le. It will also be observed that when the device is applied to the surface of the pan or griddle, a slight downward pressure may be exerted on the handle to produce a further downward movement of the plunger head to squeeze the absorbent material so that the grease will be brought to the lower surface of the absorbent material.
Vhat is claimed is:
A griddle greaser including a casing, a large mesh wire screen removably carried I by the lower end of the casing, absorbent material within the casing, a follower within the casing and on the absorbent material, an upwardly extending stem carried by the follower, a bracket carried by the upper end of the casing, a lever pvotally connected to the bracket and intermediate its ends to the stem, a second bracket carried by the casing below the upper end and on the opposite side thereof, and a coil spring connected at its ends to the lever outwardly of the pivot thereof and to the second bracket.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two Witnesses.
JOHN M. KEIL.
Witnesses:
