IRONING-BOARD SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 27, 1916.
App1ication filed December 7, 1915. Serial at. 65,634.
T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BERTIE R. HALL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Outlook, in the Province of Saskatchewan and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Board Supports, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in ironing boards and particularly to supporting means for the same.
In carrying out my invention it is my purpose to provide an ironing board with a clamp of a simple construction, whereby the gagement with the jamb, and also whereby the board may be properly positioned with regard to the height and convenience of the user. ,7
A further object of the invention is to provide an ironing board with" clamp of this character which shall embody the desirable features of simplicity, cheapness, strength and efiiciency.
IVith the above and other objects in view, the improvement resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following specification and falling within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the application of my improvement, Fig. 2 is a horiontal sectional view approximately on the line 22 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the clamp detached from the board.
In the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a suitable support, in this instance, being in the nature of an ordinary door jamb, the same having its face at its outer corners provided with the usual rabbets 2-2.
The board is indicated by the numeral 3 and the clamp therefor is broadly indicated by the numeral let. The clamp includes a straight substantially rectangular tongue member 5 having adjacent of its ends a head 6. This head comprises a member which extends at right angles from the opposite sides or faces of the tongue 5, the said extensions indicated by the numerals 7 having their inner faces provided with compressible bufler members 8.
l The head 6 is centrally provided in a line with the tongue 5 with a rearwardly extending arm 10 that terminates in an inturned or angular member 11. The member 11 exte nds inwardly of the arm in the direction of the members 7 of the head 6, and is provided with a threaded opening for the reception of turning screw 13. The screw is provided with a handle or head 1d upon its outer end and upon its inner end with a swiveled contact member 15. The member 15 is adapted to engage with one of the side walls provided by one of the rabbets 2 of the jamb l, the member 7 engaging with a similar wall provided by the second rabbet 2, and when the board 'is arranged at the proper height, the screw 13 is adjusted to hold the same upon the jamb, as will it is thought be readily understood.
From the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying'drawing, the simplicity of the device, as well as the advantages thereof will, it is thought, be perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art to which such invention appertains without further detailed description.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is: V j
The herein described means for supporting an ironing board upon a door jamb or the like, comprising a member including a flat tongue to which the board is connected, a head of a width approximately equaling that of the tongue and arranged at right angles thereto and extending in opposite directions therefrom, said head upon. one of its sides having extending corners, buffer members upon the faces of the head and corners opposite the faces adjacent to the tongue, an arm formed centrally with the head upon the side thereof opposite that provided With the extensions and projecting In testimony whereof I affix my signature longitudinally from the said head in a line in presence of two Witnesses.
With but in an opposite direction from the tongue, said arm having its end extending BERTIE HALL inwardly in the direction of the head, and WVitnesses: an adjustable headed element for the said N. AJLEEN PIoKwoRTH, angular end. A. H. RIED.
