Description

0. E. TOWNSEND..
WASTE PIPE CLEANER.
APPLICATION FILED MAY7 Patented Dec. ,1, 1915.
GRE E. TOWNSEND, OF PLASKI, IGA.
WASTE-PIPE CLEANER.
' of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Waste-Pipe Cleaners, ofl
which the following is a specification. n
The invention 'relates to a waste pipe cleaner, and has for its primary object to provide a device 0f this character wherein connection is had between the water supply pipe and the said waste pipe so that the water under pressure from the supply pipe can be let into the waste pipe .for the cleaning of the same, thereby avoiding the necessity of the removal of the p1pe should the same become clogged or choked from sedlment or other foreign matter.
Another object Aof the invention is thel provision of a device of this character which is extremely simple in construction, readily and easily applied to both thev waste and water supply pipes of a wash basin or other bathroom equipment, also one Whlch is thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, and inexpensive in manufacture and lnstallation.-;
With these and other objects in vlew the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of a wash basin showing the waste pipe cleaning device constructed in accordance with the invention applied to the Waste and cold water supply pipes. Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical longitudinal sectional view.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughoutv the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates a wash basin of the ordinary wellknown construction, B the hot water supply pipe, C the cold water supply pipe, and D Specification of Letters Patent.

Application .filed May 7, 1915. Seria1 No. 26,562.
the faucets connected with the said het and cold water pipes for the discharge of the water therefrom into the basin.
The waste pipe cleaning device comprises a short length pipe 5 formed with a plug cut-ofi' valve 6 arranged therein, and this pipe has communication with the waste pipe 7 which carries 0H the water from the basin A in the usual manner, and also has connection with the hot water supply pipe C through the medium of Tunions 8 coupled with the said pipes in' the usual manner.
In the union 8 above the point of communication of the pipe 5 withthe said pipes 7 is arranged a cut-oft1 valve 10 which is hand operable so that on the closing ofthe valve the waste pipe will be shut oif from the basin A.
When the valve 10 is closed the plug vvalve 6 is opened so that the water under pressure from the pipe C will flow directly therefrom through the pipe 5 into the waste pipe 7 for the thorough cleaning thereof,
` and thereafter the valve 6 is closed and the valve 10 is openedso that the basin may be used in the ordinary well-known manner.
From the foregoing description, taken in Y connection with the accompanying drawing,
the construction and manner of operation of the device will be clearly understood, and
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature y Witnesses:
